Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Telling that only NUFC and MCFC objected!
To an extent I’ve always felt that a clubs owners should be allowed to spend what they want on their team, provided a method is in place to prevent a club going into administration. Be that personal liability for player contracts or whatever.
I have to say though, my belief hadn’t ever really considered a Sovereign state being an owner so I’m a little torn about it now.
That said, they would realistically only ever have 24 (ish) players and 11 on the pitch. Whatever money that have, will they really be any better than the peak Barca or Galactico teams? Getting the worlds 24 best players and giving them £500k per week would come with its own problems with motivation etc. Would the 3rd best striker be happy to sit on the bench there etc?

Spend as much as you want, I agree.

Jack Walker had a good personal wealth and spent a lot to make Blackburn champions, but it was always short term, he didn't have enough to sustain that.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are "owned" by PIF, which is basically an entire country, and will seemingly have a bottomless pit to fall back on. Just think we talk about a fair and equal game, yet here we are, potentially 10% of the league are owned by Middle Eastern States.

Not sure how I feel about this ruling. It’s okay for City to do it through Emirates but not Newcastle?

We are also at it / although Uncle Uz is not “officially” our owner, therefore we are flying under the radar.

Need a bit of parity here. If Newcastle can’t do it then neither can Man City
Oy don't lump uncle Uzy in with these people, Alister made his money selling plastic bags
