Looking at the next permanent manager odds seems they are no closer to securing one. Looking at their upcoming fixtures they could be in a really bad situation in the league from which it will be difficult to come back from. I can see the teams immediately above them, Burnley, Leeds, Southampton, Palace etc. picking up points here and there so Newcastle could be nailed at the bottom along with Norwich who appear a hopeless case.
I don’t know if I’d like Norwich to win.Good result, lets hope Leeds can get a good win tomorrow
What I take from the 1st few weeks, is these owners seem a lot less serious than Citys were. It's becoming a bit shambolic for them.
That's true but ijust cant see Norwich staying above themI don’t know if I’d like Norwich to win.
Just so we could see them hit rock bottom.
Well predicted, Burnley, Palace, and Southampton all won today....Leeds to beat Norwich tomorrow ??Looking at the next permanent manager odds seems they are no closer to securing one. You have to ask the question no one seems to have asked yet. Why?
Sovereign wealth funds aint there for funsies. They are there for when oil/gas/whatever, runs out. Norway have a massive one for example. The City/PSG ownership is clear sports washing, discuss at your leisure. Saudi Arabia cares not a fig what folk think of them, see the boxing they put one. That was direct Government spending. (Cheap when comparing that spend to funding a prem football club)
PIF are in for a return, medium to long term. They may well make Newcastle a global brand and triple their outlay, who knows. But I would wager they will not lob a fortune at the club, short term.
I have yet to see anything from them, that makes me think they are going to have Newcastle winning a title within 5 years. The fact they kept Bruce, then have got Greame Jones in, and are generally making a bit of a mess with lots of names currently.
500m doesn't get you anywhere near as much as it used to as well, as we have shown. They are trying to climb from a much lower base than we were in when Farhad arrived too, where we still have a squad with lots of assets that had lost it's way. They are a shambles from top to finish. I think it will be a lot harder than people think.
If they were seriously on a trajectory to league winners within 5 years I can't see a world where Benitez says no to them.
The reason people don't ask why though, is it's not an easy news story to generate quick clicks. Essentially football reporting likes quick, easy conclusions that can be easily repeated.

And sovereign wealth funds want the exact opposite. Long term secure yields, potential for capital growth, bingo.
I mean, maybe, the Saudi Royal family have got a sudden hard on for football. Its not impossible. So perhaps using their PIF thing scratches that itch.
