Or Joe Royle.
….Vernon on 94%, Royle 73% (I think he missed against Monchengladbach) but some very decent records in there;

There`s quite a few young players that have gone to teams on the continent that have made nice careers for themselves. I wonder if more young lads took an offer of going to clubs on the continent to develop for a few years instead of staying with clubs in England would they come back to England better prepared for life in English football.
Everytime Lookman has a good performance for Atalanta I am reminded that we let him go and kept faith with Tom Davies for 4 years.
Aye there’s plenty players we have messed about but he’s not one of them. Was wanting away almost immediately after arriving.The thing with Lookman, is that in the four years since he left us, he’s been at Red Bull, Fulham and Leicester and none of them wanted him either, so it wasn’t just us.
Red Bull are famed for developing young players and even they couldn’t get a tune out of him.
Maybe he’s finally matured, maybe he’s finally feels settled at a club, regardless, we made a nice profit on him and he wanted to go too.
Lookman isn’t a player that I look back on with rose tinted glasses.
I liked Marco Silva generally but could never fathom why he never gave Lookman more minutes in the season he got sacked. Walcott was a guaranteed starter in that season but was consistently playing like that Ali Dia fella who played that game for Southampton. Lookman would get 5-10 minute cameos off the bench and look miles better than him. But like others have said maybe his behaviour wasn't right. I think Silva mentioned once that he didn't train very well. I can't help but think though that if the club wasn't run like a circus we might have been able to manage Lookman better and get more out of him.There`s quite a few young players that have gone to teams on the continent that have made nice careers for themselves. Seem to remember the games he ended up starting he was a let down. No one was particularly upset when he left.I liked Marco Silva generally but could never fathom why he never gave Lookman more minutes in the season he got sacked. I liked Silva and thought he was unlucky with transfers and pickfords errors etc, however, I thought he was poor with both Lookman and Vlasic in his handling. Would have liked both to stay and developed, no guarantees they would have done of course. If you look at young players over the last few years most have played their best football away from EvertonSeem to remember the games he ended up starting he was a let down. Was he making crank phone-calls to Vlasic? Koeman signed him after he played against us one of the few times we got in Europe.I liked Silva and thought he was unlucky with transfers and pickfords errors etc, however, I thought he was poor with both Lookman and Vlasic in his handling. I dunno, it’s hard to know how people are behind the scenes and in training. Never got the impression either particularly wanted to be here tbh.I liked Silva and thought he was unlucky with transfers and pickfords errors etc, however, I thought he was poor with both Lookman and Vlasic in his handling. Absolutely, we have no clue what goes on in the training ground or in the changies. As an outsider looking in it didn't look like he got it right, but obviously there could be mitigation there. As said I liked Silva and thought he had some rotten luck at the club, I think if Zaha comes in it could have been transformational.I dunno, it’s hard to know how people are behind the scenes and in training. Lookman was clearly a talent but was the wrong place and time for all parties. Only now is he reaching his potential after several years and clubs in between.
We bought Vlasic when we had about 4/5 players in the same position. Was a signing when they saw a talented player but had no plan to integrate them into the team. Don’t think Silva can be blamed for that.
Was it not Silva who let Vlasic go? I could be wrong on that, but remember thinking at the time he was hesitant with young talent.Was he making crank phone-calls to Vlasic? Koeman signed him after he played against us one of the few times we got in Europe.
You might be right, I can't be arsed to Google itWas it not Silva who let Vlasic go? I could be wrong on that, but remember thinking at the time he was hesitant with young talent.
