i'm amazed everyone is supporting Fonseca, cos if he's not able to adapt instantly to the Premier League, we get relegated for the first time in fifty years

Anyone who believes Fonseca is coming is naieve. His agent is Mendes just like the Wolves manager. Mendes is likely taking the opportunity to raise his clients profile with Moshiris blessing as Sam is likely hardballing us in negotiation now he knows we're absolutely desperate. The Fonseca angle is simply being used in an attempt to leverage more compromise from Sam.
Even if negotiations with Sam break down Fonseca won't be coming. He's only managed in the mighty Portuguese and Ukrainian leagues. Appointing him to fight a relegation battle in the Premiership would be the most reckless gamble with Evertons future I've ever seen and Moshiri isn't going to risk his massive investment like that.

Aye this is true.

But as others have said a couple of wins puts us mid table and safe if they were to happen instantly (especially next weekend ffs) which changes the perspective of the season.

Personally I think we are in a crisis and have been for a while now so I am more inclined to hire the relegation battle specialist. But it is still a fair comment from others that we only really need a couple of wins to turn things around

I agree fully. But as I replied to above, it's not wrong either that a couple of wins in the next few gamea does turn our season around. Even if we do leak goals!

Genuine question - do we have the players at the club right now that would be capable of playing Sam's style of football? I'm pretty sure the squad height is well below average (even more so when just looking at fit players)
They are all taller than Defoe and he did ok there.

Personally I think appointing someone with a 35% win percentage over his career, who got less out of Sunderland than Gus Poyet, and threw away his dream job because he couldn't help himself from being an odious fat biff, when you're 2 years into a 'short window' in which you're trying to make yourself a real force would be a tad more reckless than appointing a highly rated if - GULP - foreign manager, but hey, it's all about opinions.

I'm not getting this 'leverage' angle with Allardyce. It's not like the Fonseca stuff is being widely reported right now, most neutrals in the country probably still don't have a clue that he's even being considered..

Bookies really haven't got a clue. They are pushing everyone else out now to accommodate Sam and Fonseca. 25/1 for Dyche is looking really tempting at the moment.
