Last point you make is why although I'd prefer Fonseca, i would have very little problem if we did get rid of BFS right now and go hire Silva, his 'fall from grace' was very much influenced and precipitated by us and our interest, give him a 3 year contract with us having a two year option to extend on it, get him an actual DoF who shares a similar 'philosophy' and back both of their decisions re who comes in and who goes out.
My own choice would still involve bringing in Arteta as assistant manager to whichever way we went though, someone who does know the club/fans and city, and who is very highly rated/touted for a managerial role down the line.

I'd have love to have seen Arteta being brought in when Unsworth was here. I do think some of the poor form was down to a complete lack of support from above, and you saw the difference in performance once they knew they had a manager. Bringing Arteta back and for me ideally Lee Carsley would have really helped Unsworth. When you consider the performances of the young lads, particularly in terms of attitude, Kenny, Calvery Lewin, Davies, Lookman, Holgate and then lads like Connolly, Dowell, Williams and Robinson doing well in the championship, you see Unsworth has built a proper mentality in them. They are resilient and a million miles away from our first teamers.

I sense that ship has sailed though. For me we need to focus on getting the DOF first and allowing him to implement a proper structure. IN many ways a proper claret, at boardroom all the way to under23's is probably just what we needed after this season. While it will be sad to see Unsworth go, for him and many for the club it's now for the best, which pains me as he's acted with more dignity than most of the players, board and shareholders combined. I think he will go on and do well as a coach. But yes, for me, get a DOF in first, let them build a structure, and ideally bring Silva in. I get the Fonseca admiration, but Silva's record at Olympiakos is every bit as impressive as Fonseca and he has the added bonus of knowing England.

I think I’ve moved firmly into Boy Wonder and Gravel Mouth territory on the next appointment. We don’t need any more temporary solutions like Koeman. So whether Conte is likely (surely not?) or Silva, I’d rather someone who will aim to stay 5 or more years. Not that I’d say no to Simeone or Tuechel (are these even possible?) or even Fonseca, but I think what Everton needs is a Dyche or Howe. Both seem beyond competent, the only question is whether they’re winners or Moyes MK2.

While I like Howe and Dyche and think they are solid well organised managers who have done extremely well with the players, infrastructure and budget they have had to work with.
As you said they seem very Moyes like and I wonder have they got what it takes to get us through the Sky 6 glass ceiling.
Have they the ability to attract players from the pond we are hoping to fish in rather than the larger pool of good /average players they fish in

I’d rather lick a partially defrosted chicken.
I assume from your reply that you have in fact at some stage in your life licked a partially frozen chicken
Otherwise how would you know you would prefer it to Moyes coming back.
Have you anything you wish to share with the group
We are a kind caring open minded group who will not judge but will offer sound advice.
PS I would however ignore any advice that includes the use of bleach or sawdust , or any combination of the two

I actually wouldn't mind Eddie Howe. He's a young up and coming manager. He was a boyhood blue.He ticks a lot of boxes.Of course managing Everton, would be a more high profile job, with greater pressure and challenges. But he's done enough to be given a chance at a big club.I don't think the new manager, necessarily has to be of the continental variety.

I think ideally we need a manager, who knows what english football is all about, so we don't have to worry about an adjustment period. But then again Sam Allardyce, is making scary noises about still being here next season.Perish the thought!Of course we need a new director of football as well.I think someone like Jordi Cruyff would be ideal for such a role.
Jose Mourinho
Antonio Conte
Claudio Ranieri
Pep Guardiola
Roberto Mancini
All say hello

It’s not happening lads. If Sam finishes even averagely he’ll start next season. The board only cares about survival. Nothing short of a huge fan protest will unseat a manager who can achieve prem safety each season.

..regarding manager selection I’m happy to declare that I haven’t got a clue. I think it’s lots to do with right person, right place, right time.

Too much sense there @Eggs . Appointing a 'proven winner' would be no guarantee of continued success here, just as appointing somebody who has failed in the past would not necessarily mean failure again here.

Big Sam however = wrong man, wrong place, wrong time.

Once we get a couple of wins on the board I would like the powers above to announce that fat Sam will be leaving in the summer and we have plans in place to appoint a new man (Fonseca)

West Ham have already said they are getting rid of Moyes come the end of the season, who are lower than us.

So we should be doing the same if the board have an once of ambition
