Wenger might well make a good adviser to a director of football for a couple of years as they settle into the English game if they are from abroad - even if it's a fairly superficial or ambassadorial role. At Everton that might work - at Arsenal probably not so much as he might be seen as interfering too much.
Though I don't see him leaving to another club when he isn't Arsenal manager.
I always thought my dream manager would have been Simeone, but I am now of the thinking that I want a progressive attacking manager who is also organised, and that we need to be recruiting from that type, and I think that Fonseca is ideally located within that outline plus he is obtainable. Arteta having been under Guardiola and Wenger could well fit into this category too. Silva also, but this would be my third choice.
If I was hoping to go along the lines of the Simeone pragmatic, I'd be tempted to go for Mancini as he would probably leave that route open after him if it all went to plan. Who else is around in this category? Dyche? I'm not overly taken with this idea after suffering Big Scam.
I honestly hope that our decision makers know what they want to do. I hope that they have a clear idea, and a long term vision and are going to put the structure in place that whoever comes in, can succeed. This doesn't seem to be the case for some years now.
New poll please!
