I think we need a "builder" for the next phase of our development.

Someone with the patience to spend 5+ years here building a squad up, training players into their system and really committed to the club.

Probably someone near the start of their career.

I'd obviously be delighted with either Blanc or Emery as well but doubtful we'd attract them.

Team Fonseca for me but if we are going down the Director of Football route that appointment is arguably even more important.

The D of F you’d think would be much more important assuming they sit over the manager, head all recruitment, and are responsible for the technical direction of the club in all aspects.

Seen a lot of people say that a new manager would come in and “easily” get us to 7th, but actually think a new manager has a hell of a job on his hands coming in with this squad.

Half of them are either crap or have a shocking attitude, a further quarter are either youngsters or past it, and finally the remaining quarter consists of decent players. Hell of a job to sort that mess out.

Burnley are seventh, their best players could be described as decent. 7th is a minimum for any new manager and if they can't do that they get sacked like martinez and koeman.

It's piss easy to get our current squad 7th if you're a competent manager especially with a few additions.

We should be 7th right now, but Allardyce is a complete muppet and has failed in his job, His negative football isn't working and we are still weak defensively despite him being an "expert" in this field

Our players are no where near as bad as they’ve been performing. They are no where near as bad as most of our fans make out.

We have the 7th best squad in the league and should be there as a minimum in my opinion.

A decent manager improves what you have and exceeds that quality. We need a good manager
Totally agree, its been the horrendous tactics for most games, starting the season with no striker was a massive mistake

God how much jealous i am of the RS . Klopp has a net approx zero spend and look what they r doing . Cant belive how far they have come from the hodgson era . I dont want immediete transformation , but like rs and spurs over the years , we shud try to make steady progress with a vision . I dont want another cl manager who comes n demands international stars .. silva was perfect i was so excited when we were linked to him .

They have only done what they always seem to do, buy a new player who turns out to be amazing, Torres, Suarez, Salah at some point there luck has to run out

You would think after 240 million spent whether it be Mr. Moshiri's money, player sales or TV revenue that some accountability would be in order given that we've failed to improve, let alone equal last seasons position.

Just exactly where is the yardstick laid down for this club anymore, from the simpering "expected losses" to the hiring of a manager, clearly now out of his depth. Just when do the people running this club draw the line?

There are rumours of a clear out, thank heavens. Just how much ineptitude does the supporter base have to accept or the board? There's a question posed on another thread which asks how representative of the supporter base is GOT. In my estimation, any fool can see the vast difference between how a club should be run compared to the farce that has become Everton Football Club.

I'm sick to the teeth of "Everton That" and "It's the hope that kills you" postings. As a professional football club, grow the feck up Everton and conduct yourselves like a modern, forward thinking club, with a coherent business strategy. Ditch this boys club nonsense and start competing in the real world before we become derided as a Roy of the Rovers footnote, a comic, cast into the forgotten clubs of history.

a good manager will know what to do to build a decent team

It isn't luck.

They have a style of play - so they sign players who fit in with it. We don't have a style of play.

They use data analytics and scouting better than anyone else. Naby Keita will be the next huge success.

Spent less on their front 3 than Sigurdsson/Klaassen/Tosun cost.

That's the hugely frustrating thing, the majority of their players would have been available and attainable for us over the past few years. I don't mean Salah or Firmino necessarily, but Robertson, Van Dijk, Mane, Wijnaldum etc could all have been brought in while we've been spending the money on Funes Mori, Niasse, Bolasie et al.

I disagree , after years of poor , conservative managerial appointments ( much to our amusement) they finally went out and obtained the services of a highly regarded manager with no previous PL experience, and are now beginning to reap the rewards.
