I've been convinced since Koeman left that if the choice were between Unsworth, Allardyce, Dyche or Silva, Silva would be my choice based on what appears to be his potential for tactical progressiveness, and he also seems to add a bit of energy and passion into his teams.

Silva would be my choice out of that lot cos he isnt one of the other ones. Soz Unsy, but lovely bloke, blue, etc etc etc, shown me zero he has the ability to manage a PL side.

keep saying it Silva is the new Martinez please NO !!!!

Part of me feels regret that I can't go for Unsworth or Dyche because I think it is a damn shame that a homegrown manager cannot be seen as someone who could take over a club like Everton and mount a challenge for breaking into the top four slots. The perspective I have on it is if you compare Everton's present profile to Tottenham's development over the past few years, you can see it is possible, probably more for Everton than any other club that isn't considered to be the current "top 6", to move from the regular top 6/top 8 strata into a more challenging tier. But no-one ever expects a homegrown manager to be tactically astute enough to do it. Though it is still a chancy shout, Silva has shown to me more potential for something like that tactically.

There have been other names mentioned on this thread, but I don;t know anything about Tuchel, and I just find it difficult to imagine people like Simeone or Ancelotti and so on taking the post.

I don't think he is the 'new' anything, and he is just as suspect as any other option at this point. But I am trying to look at what is potentially Everton's next manager, not just say who shouldn't be. And I am basing that on rumours that are already out there. Unless people start coming up with names that really fit the bill and with the evidence and information to back it up, then the circular arguments on this thread will just continue the same over and over.

Probably been done to death...but not really read every page of this new manger craziness....Is he any good (Silva)? Whats his back ground? Dont really know anything about him...ta

This was a reply to an earlier post....

Had a look on Wikipedia this morning.

Has a great record with the clubs he has managed.

* 1st Club ESTORIL Highest ever finish in Portuguese league history 4th. Also first club to beat Porto at home since 2008.
* 2nd Club SPORTING Won first piece of silverware since 2008.
* 3rd Club OLYMPIAKOS Set a 21st century European record of 17 consecutive wins in title season. Also winning 3-2 at Arsenal in the Champions league.
* 4th Club HULL Joined when they were adrift at the bottom of the table and almost achieved the impossible of safety with wins over the likes of Liverpool and a great cup run including a 2-1 victory over Man Utd.
*5th Club WATFORD Signed a 2yr contract in May 2017 and has made an impressive start so far. Pacey, well organised, tactically astute with champions league experience, something Jabba the hutt and Dyche don't have. And let's be honest if he hadn't lost his goalkeeper and center back against us we wouldn't have come back from 2-0 down. He has also proved he can set up teams to beat top six sides and bring the best out of average players.

He also has a higher combined win percentage rate at 53% than all of the others mentioned, even the likes of Tuchel and Pochettino.

Wouldn't it be nice to find the next Pochettino?

I agree with the clear out (I'd hold judgement on Walsh just yet like - he IS a fine scout and demotion back to that would be a better move!)

But you give Moshiri too much of a free pass. I get the sense he gets people in to delegate to but doesn't allow them to operate freely or he simply finds the temptation to periodically jump in with his size 12s too great to resist.

I dont see what he's trying to achieve here and the stalling of this managerial search suggests he doesn't either.

proper cake and arse party!
