David Unsworth 6/5
Marco Silva 6/4
Sam Allardyce 5
Sean Dyche 8

Well considering Big Sam was around 2/7 the other night, I think we can ignore the betting odds.

Was told a few days ago that both Dyche and Allardyce where out the running and have been for a bit due to the club not willing to negotiate anymore with their shared agent Mark Curtis...

Third hand info from someone connected with Sunderland, so no idea on it's reliability

What's with the odds dropping for Marco Silva? Evens on most betting sites. What's the rumour?

Not sure there is any rumour around on Silva, not even an option in the poll for this thread despite being in the top four of the betting for some time now.

Possibly should have at least the favourites as options.

...I don’t care what folk say about the betting, whoever gets the job will usually be backed in the final day or so. The Silva odds have to be of interest unless they start to drift.

I would normally agree, but recently we have seen Dyche, Sam and Unsys odds all fall within a few hours, now Silva is the same, the fact that Unsworth AND Silva are both quite short indicates that nobody has anything really solid.

But yes, prior to the big reveal, somebodys odds will fall off a cliff.

With zero stories running about him AND stories still running about other people being approached or favourite etc, then yeah the odds moving that way are curious to say the least.

Then again as i said - not sure exactly how much would need to be stuck on to shift them by that amount, also not sure if it was a steady decrease on odds - ie. one or two large bets - or a gradual decrease over a day or two - which would suggest a larger number of smaller bets, could also be a group trying to manipulate the market by loading on a large number of bets to shorten the odds - which will then generate press stories mentioning those odds - at which point they can lay their bets off to people jumping on the band wagon and make a decent profit for nothing

What is going on though?

The great game.

The Mosh has names, names that are probably out of our reach, will he give in? Not till he has to and he currently doesnt have to, we sit 15th, 1 win away from mid table, 1 defeat away from relegation scrap, so we have some wiggle room, currently, that could change in the next 7 days.

..I don’t disagree, all i’m saying is you rarely get a 33-1 candidate on the day of his appointment. The market reacts. Whoever comes in will be a very short price ahead of the appointment. Silva isn’t a very short price but if his odds don’t drift it does indicate there might be interest.

..it won’t take a huge gamble to distort the odds in this market and if the bookies truly knew he would definitely be odds on. Saying that, the price has reduced significantly today which suggests (to me) that Everton have spoken with him or his representatives.

It’s certainly not an indication it’s happening but it could be an indication of genuine interest.

Why aren't we normal mate?

INDECISION. that's what this reeks of.

plus, our owner wanting one thing , and our catastrophe of a chairman wanting another.

god knows what Walsh wants, or even if his opinion counts.

utter shambles.

and people think that this current regime are going to deliver us a new stadium.

people need to wise up and smell the coffee.
Agree about the indecision part for sure.
I personally think a decision hasn’t been made because of too many cooks in the kitchen.

This team will not progress because with BK still here we have 2 heads. No one knows who is truly leading. I don’t know if FM is trying following the Tottenham model. But BK isn’t someone brought in to run the team as an employee like Levy. He is the former majority owner with his own ideas that might be in conflict with FM. Bring in someone new to run the club but get BK out of the decision making process. Would prefer out period. We have 20+ Years of history, that at best he is caring fan that is outmatched by the truly successful owners. At worst a weasel that has leached off of the club or let other leach off it for those 20+ years. I lean him toward the latter.

I just hope that behind the scenes our best in the business board is working some magic, I am tired of waiting but if the end result is a class manager who can get us out of trouble with a view to kicking us on in time then fine but if it’s a mediocre manager who keeps us mid or lower table then.. probably cry or something
