Got to stop the club being a care home for crap ex-players, and start getting professional. Cant believe people talking about Ferguson, he robbed us as a player (with a few great moments granted) the likes of Jeffers getting paid by the club? and people want to start talking about rats and snakes (i.e. Barkely!!) Why not get Barmby back at the club? it stinks of sentimental old boys network and needs fixing fast.

Hated the idea of Fat Sam but the notion he was going to come in and wipe the slate clean with his own staff is really starting to appeal!
Angry and embarrassed by the club at the minute

...i’d be interested to know if the folk who suggest the best strategy is to keep Unsworth until the end of the season and then appoint a permanent manager still feel the same this morning. I know there’s a school of thought that Unsworth will comfortably get the team mid-table, I never for one moment thought that was the case, indeed I think we might have gone further backwards.

I’d also be interested if those who feel we are not in a relegation battle have finally woken up this morning to smell the coffee.

Thing for me is mate, about the relegation battle, no i don't believe we are actually in one, because it's still only November.

So i don't think we should be looking for a manager whose 'talent' is that type of battle, what i would say though is - should be get the next manager appointment wrong - or even should we delay it too long then we will very much be involved in one.

For the record i think going for one of the 'escape artists' managerial wise - would actually be a self fulfilling prophecy and would ensure we are in a relegation battle come season end - because by appointing one it instantly sends pout the message you as a club and the players are in that type of fight.

as for the direction of the team, yeah defensively if anything we have regressed even further, letting in 205 goals a game will do that though and will further wreck already shattered confidences on players, plus another reason, every week that goes by, williams, jagielka and baines get another week older and have another game in already worn out bodies

...i’m with you on choice of Manager, Ste. Strangely, the money this morning in the betting market is for a Houdini type in Sam Allardyce. I am, however, fearful of a relegation battle because I simply don’t see us beating any team at the moment. Regardless of it being November, we could be well detached in the relegation places by January. I don’t see any team worst than us.

ll be honest here. I really couldn’t understand all along why we couldn’t bite the bullet and appoint Allardyce, seeing he was interested. Nobody else was either willing and available.
Part of the reason was the overwhelming negative reaction to the prospect. Evertonians like most great fan bases are emotional, passionate and loyal but not necessarily logical.
Allardyce, based on his lengthy proven record, is clearly the candidate most adept at avoiding relegation but hiring him is an admission of how desperate things are so we have some saying they'd rather see us relegated as if he were a war criminal instead of just a dodgy survival expert.
It was the same when RK was hired. We could have had a big name appointee without compensation who'd won the Champs league, 2 la ligas, the EL and the FA cup. Instead we paid a fortune for the mid level RK who went on to destroy the best chance we've had in decades all because the fans wouldn't accept a former red who many years before had implied we were a smaller club.

After a result like that some fans or betters will naturally knee jerk towards that type of figure mate.

I actually think the league from 6th down is that bad this year mate that - if we ever where gonna have a shocker of a season then this was the one we could possibly still survive with it.

The next three games come against the worst attack i have seen all season in saints, the worst side (bar us) i have seen all season in west ham - and one with even less backbone and pace than us, and a hudds side who have probably the worst squad on paper in the league

a very telling group of games

Problem at the moment is people see managers like Sam as escapologists. To be honest I'd welcome a manager like that not just to prevent relegation but to instigate a root and branch clear out in the backroom, install some discipline throughout the squad and organise a team of 11 men every weekend.

Yes i know some poeple object because of his questionable morality but we need to park some of that overly sentimental stuff that Bill's been cultivating to disguise his lack of spending power over the years. If we don't we'll all be able to feel good about the club and our image from the comfort of the championship.

With the teams you have mentioned, we are in good company.

Whole club looks like it´s disintegrating. Mutinous rabble of a squad without a manager and nothing but silence from the club leadership.

Who we might want and who we can get are two entirely different scenarios. It should be relatively simple now for the club to distill the options and act swiftly (imagine that!) and just stop this.

We all have our own opinion but 837 pages of debate on this thread, probably much like the machinations in the boardroom, have resulted in nothing to date.

Personally, and after all of the games this season, I am not comfortable with waiting to see what might be the distinction between saying we are not in a survival battle, to we might be, to we are. Christmas is approaching with that quick-fire run of games. I have seen enough to know we are in trouble and our choice of manager has to reflect that. Which it will, inevitably as we simply are not attracting any of the other sort of manager.

I'll accept Dyche or Allardyce, with reluctance, but the time to be precious about the choice of manager is a luxury we can ill afford.

Just offer it to Allerdyce. The people saying no to him are the same ones saying let Unsworth have it.

We need someone in now. He knows the league and he’s no idiot. He won’t take any garbage from these players.

Dyche, Allardyce, Silva, Unsworth etc...makes no difference. We thought Koeman was the real deal but look at his buys, its awful under Unsworth but it would have been the same if RK hadn't been sacked. The names being touted around have no real success in their careers, those managers that have had wouldn't be interested in the job. Someone mentioned earlier on in the thread about the old boys network, it's okay having a few ex players I suppose but you have to draw the line somewhere. What on earth is Jeffers doing at the club. We are actually paying him, it's unbelievable really.
Everton are an embarrassment from top to bottom. Lets face it we've been in the Stoke, West Ham, West Brom bracket for years now and it will probably stay that way. Can you ever see our club winning a trophy again? It all started with the lack of ambition after Hysel. The club has been totally mismanaged since. If you aim low you get low.
