I know its a bit harsh but I feel the lad needs some tough love sometimes. RM might have improved him confidence wise but a player without stamina nor an alternative way of playing (mind you, his role is a creativity based role) can hurt him in the long run. That's my feel in where RM actually hurt his development in the long run despite the short term uptick. The best players in the world work hard, have detractors who are worse than what Emery and myself have said about him. At some point, he needs to grow beyond needing TLC. I don't think Bale or Messi (who he is compared to btw) would wilt under tough love.

Again, even if he lost, I would still take him over Mourinho any day. Besides, I'm tired of Mourinho's soap opera.

But Emery tried the tough love and it didn't work. Martinez overendulged him so the balance would be a bit of both, on that occasion.

I just don't feel Emery would be the best manager to get the most out of our young players compared to some of the other potential candidates.

He's a top manager though and if we did get him, I wouldn't complain.

Well, young players can be a hit or miss. I'm not worried if we have to let go of Delboy if we get Emery. If he turns out to be better than Messi, then our loss, sure, but I'm betting that won't happen as much (over a good number of players). It's rare to turn one's career around like that. If we lose Delboy but turn Stones and Barkley (and the rest of the academy) around into big game players, imagine what that will make us!

Hopefully Emery will bring in a few coaches that will blend his tough love with TLC. He can't possibly bring his entire crew over anyway.

Still, on the side note, I'm making noise to get more attention to link to him. He might not want to come, but we MUST try.

21 people want Moyes ? Are you people for real ? He dropped us like a bag of rubbish when United came calling. Then with the whole Baines saga burnt any bridges he might of still had. He's a clown we were the best thing that ever happened to him. He's been shown up since he left to what little talent as a manager he actually has.

What has Emery accomplished this season.
We first of all should accept that he has no hope of winning the league, He has Barcelona, Real and Atletico Madrid ahead of him. I don't think even Leicester could win that league(joke).

Instead, they have a decent league placing, won a European trophy and qualified for the CL. It really is quite remarkable.
This is no flash in the pan, this is his third year in the row winning that trophy. It has been pointed out by others that all of this has been done while carrying a huge transfer surplus.
Would Mourinho have done as well in similar circumstances ?

Does anybody have a list of the players they have been sold by Emery in the last three seasons , just to see what he has had to contend with.

The more I think about him, the more I think that maybe I should change my No. 1 and my No. 2.....but not yet.

The upset value in the media and across the park if Mourinho joined would be just too good to miss out on.

Hearing how Klopp the Flopp is a better manager than Mourinho would be the stuff of legends.
It isn't all that long ago that Jonjoe Shelvey was better than Barkley.

This season
Bacca, Vidal, Mbia

Last Season
Rakatic, Moreno, Fazio,

Season before last
Negredo, Navas, Kondogbia, Medel, Alberto

For a club like Sevilla that is a huge set of players to lose in just 3 years, some of those that sound like so what losses had been vital players for them as well - just busted out elsewhere

David Moyes is not Everton's heritage. He is a manager who's goal was always to manage Man Utd (FACT) and he saw Everton as a stepping stone.

The facts you state about him improving us on the pitch and league positions are undeniable, though not sure what credit he gets for the financial elevation you have mentioned!

Just a thought, try going forward instead of backwards.

it is very rare that a manager goes back to a club and succeeds, I think it didn't even work for Capello in Italy.

He is a decent manager, but not the only manager. And why do you seem to struggle to take on board that expectations are gong to be higher due to the investment that is coming into the club, thus meaning somebody with a proven record of nurturing youth and winning something is going to be a better option?

Yeah agree - I wasn't suggesting Moyes return as manager (I do agree with forwards not backwards, too). I'm asking why in terms of values, understanding the club, it's strengths and weaknesses etc, why there's been zero interest in current guys in the youth and U21 set-up stepping forward as manager. Unsworth has stepped up on the last game of the season and we won 3-0. Big Dunc has been in the set-up long enough.

I have far more trust and respect in these guys and the values of building slowly rather than wham bam, £200m spanked on a stranger. I'm also not sure what it says about our confidence in the talent it's building in-house, either.

Do you not rate our U21 guys sufficiently to see them have a go?

Sure, throw me a few names Evertonians other than Moyes. My expectations for the next boss is actually not that high.
Year 1 - Top Half of table with transfer profits
Year 2 - Challenge for Europa
Year 3 - Challenge for UCL with fallback in Europa
Year 4+ - Keep or improve upon year 3

I think you will find less adventurous fans but I just think if a name like Emery becomes available, you get him.

Yeah I think I phrased the post poorly, I wasn't suggesting Moyes return- just surprised that the guys in the U21 frame have been presumed to be inadequate. Unsworth's on a 100% games to win ratio :) Or Big Dunc out front - who'd not put in a shift for him?

Whoever is employed I am certain a lot more due diligence will have been carried out rather than looking misty eyed at someone who had just won the FA cup.

The appointment will not be the 1st choice for the majority of fans, however we have to trust that all applicants will have been judged on the respective merits on what they will bring to the party.

Farhad is not going to drop £100M's and let some maniac ruin his investment, I suspect some hard targets are going to be the order of the day moving forward

LOL no worries
If Unsworth can prove himself here or elsewhere, I would not think twice about it.
Problem is that current sentiment is about a statement hire, so Unsworth doesn't make that cut yet

From time to time in my business, i cross swords with a guy I shall call "Deepthroat" who seems to have an in with the board.
Today happened to be one of those times.

According to Deepthroat, Bill is as keen as mustard on either Koeman and failing that, De Boer.
However, Mr Mosh ( and perhaps more tellingly) and his associates are determined to get "the best" as they are willing to spend serious money to make Everton an elite club (again).

Make of that what you will as i am not an ITK just passing on whisperings.

Does @The Esk concur with Deepthroat?
