Q Why are people who've won the Championship so unappealing?

It's a much harder league to get through than the Prem successfully... You've got more games, more injuries, less money and so a much greater onus resides on the manager to create and build success. So if we want 'proven' winners - why the ceiling on these guys? A tonne of guys have done brilliantly in this respect, so why the snobbery? What's not proven about Moyes stint - more money, better league position, more valuable, more settled (and promising) squad. I'm not shouting for his return, but let's learn from proven formulas.

Let's be honest the Premiership has been won by the richest side nearly every year since it's creation inc Blackburn and nearly Newcastle (so all hail Leicester!). Moshiri is not a bottomless pit of cash. Esk writes a great article here https://www.grandoldteam.com/2016/0...new-stadium-need-not-expensive-goodison-park/
on the gap between us and the top guys - let's prioritise fixing this hole first as we'll never get near these guys otherwise....

So let's build a better team through coaching not just someone turning up for Prem cash with a short-term CV. Pelligrini's hardly excelled with his ultra millions (albeit he's more dignified than than their board), but that squad is ageing.

De Boer ... OK. Emery's achievement at Sevilla is impressive (but permit be being arl ar5e - he keeps winning the Europa cos their dumped out the CL every time). But yes a great record in Europe and domestically OK in a 5 team league. Are we honestly saying we need these foreign guys and their access to overseas talent cos our British options are so inferior?

Challenge for the GOT forum:

Can we name 6 British Managers and the reasons we can't go for them (including our own ex players)? And I accept in advance that Adrian Heath's stint with Orlando may not be adequate at this point :)
No British dross for me. Game style has passed them and they aren't good enough in comparison with their foreign counterparts.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but England isn't a football power.

Absolutely - see this from a City fan

"Whilst not being the worst manager they could go for, he would be utterly [Poor language removed] at Everton. His tenure at City bears a remarkable resemblance to Martinez at Everton. Both of them took over teams that had been built on solid defences and both of them did well in their first year. Then both of them got progressively worse as the influence of the previous managers waned and they managed to fully integrate their own ideas. City under Pellegrini and Everton under Martinez both had an extremely soft underbelly. If they want to stop haemorrhaging goals then they are going for the wrong man."

Amazing how other clubs see our problems so much more objectively than us.

I did want pellegrini but those comments are concerning and the fans do know best.

Funny how you support an English team tho, yet it holds no power, strange comment.

I was over the moon when I thought Pellegrini was off to Zenit. Would be the only one of the heavily linked managers (Koeman, De Boer and now Emery) that I would be really unhappy with.

So I'm fully prepared for his unveiling at some point this week.

....I suspect Everton will be talking to (interviewing) all the likely candidates for our job, it's how the club will determine their views and vision for the future.

According to press reports, David Moyes is in talks with Villa for their managers job. We might be able to take him off our option list soon.

No point getting a manager in who's won the Championship like Howe or Dyche because they'd have absolutely no idea what to do with a huge transfer kitty; they're used to wheeling and dealing not bringing in the established stars the fans crave and the team probably needs.
