Pellegrini would certainly feel a safe, easy and uninspiring option.

But you never know. Ranieri felt the same according my my Leicester mate.

Whilst I've voted for Emery and suspect Koeman is the favourite, Pellegrini providing he agreed to involve and work with David Unsworth as a means to a natural succession would not be an unattractive proposition.

There is no harm in talking to Pellegrini. We should interview as many top quality managers as we can.

Hopefully though, Emery would get the nod if he was interested. What exactly happened between him and Del? Did they fall out at Sevilla or did Emery not fancy him (I don't mean like that)?

A mix of both, tbh

Emery used him early on and Del - as he does - got a few assists and goals. But his lack of work rate defensively was a real problem for Emery as really Vitolo is the only player who is given a free role to do what he wants in that regard. With Vitolo on the left and Del on the right Sevilla were getting exposed but I think Emery showed a bit too much 'tough love' to Del by dropping him and Del reacted badly as really he was just playing his natural game and he was adding to the team going forward.

What, you didn't think that after a record-breaking points tally and highest finish in five years, playing genuinely exciting football utilising young (British) players at the core of the squad?

It turned sour, but that first season was top and there was real hope at Everton again.
Oh my apologies am on my phone and quickly misread your post as at the time he was chosen as Manager we all thought it was an inspired choice by Bill.
After the first season it did look good indeed ;)

Hes not odds on, that was my point.

But it means nothing really, wasnt MON odds on at 1 point? And even Moyes has been favourite, Low, everybodys having a turn.

odds-on
(ŏdz′ŏn′, -ôn′)
adj. Informal
More likely than others to win; having a good chance of success: "I was the odds-on favorite to become the nextpresident of the Ford Motor Company" (Lee Iacocca).

It's a figure of speach. Sorry I'm not a gambler so don't know if that's "technically" right. lol

Monchi is a Sevilla man through and through. Great eye for talent but don't think he'll be going anywhere.
I think I remember hearing or reading that they also used 100s of scouts so I doubt it's as simple as taking one man. Besides they use the money ball method similar to Liverpool which I'm not a fan of.

Moshy only in job a wet week and lids are already turning their noses up at a manager of Pellegrini's caliber. Would be great appointment imo.

....whoever has the shortest odds is favourite to win the competition. Even money means a punter can double their money but once those odds dip below evens they become 'odds-on'. Odds-on favourites are expected to oblige but that isn't always the case.

Pretty sure we interviewed Perreira after Martinez that summer mate, but yeh, Bill's mind was already made up - in fairness to him based on that first year it looked an inspired move - we all thought it.

Aye i know, i just feel like this recruitment is different - last time it felt like the moment martinez was met it was all done and dusted. Think this time its feeling like we are spreading the net and seeing who impresses us!

Pelligrini doesn't excite me in the slightest. He didn't do anywhere near well enough with City. No different from why I wouldn't want Van Gaal.

Emery - his away record concerns me massively

De Boer, Koeman I'd be happy with.

Personally I don't know why Mancini isn't mentioned more often. He took over city in a state of transition, transformed them into a title winning side and had one of the highest win rates in the premier league. Also, AVB whilst sacked from Tottenham and Chelsea, he's on a free at the moment, got Tottenham their highest ever points total, and I think he has a lot more to do in the PL. Mancini or AVB would be my first choices

I'm not sold on Emery, but his away record isn't bad at all overall. Normally it's absolutely fine. This year is just likely to be a blip.

After his time with us and Martinez not demanding anything of him Barca sent him to Emery for that "tough love". Emery might actually now be good for him although if he's too good for him Barca will want to buy him back since they're a bit strapped for cash. I love Deulofeu but he needs to work harder especially if he's going to continue to play on the wing.
