After his time with us and Martinez not demanding anything of him Barca sent him to Emery for that "tough love". Emery might actually now be good for him although if he's too good for him Barca will want to buy him back since they're a bit strapped for cash. I love Deulofeu but he needs to work harder especially if he's going to continue to play on the wing.

...I'm not totally convinced by the 'has to work harder' point re Deulofeu. He's primarily an offensive winger who gives us the creativity not many others can. Sure he has to put in a shift but we have industrious wide players in Lennon and Cleverley, it's really important we don't negate Deulofeu's strengths. I feel we are a better team when he plays.

Offensively he does give us more but even last night you could see Messi works harder of the ball that Gerry. I think the point is that top teams can't have passengers in defense. We have Barkley, Lukaku, and Deulofeu and it leaves us horribly exposed. Whoever comes in as manager either those players are going to have to shape up or leave because at most we can have only one player like that.

Can you imagine Pellegrini trying to motivate his team that are getting beat at half time? No me neither.

I want a live wire, a jack in the box full of energy and enthusiasm, not a pensioner who looks like he should be sitting in his easy chair by the fire in his slippers supping on his horlicks.

Erm. Yeah.

Tim Sherwood sounds like your ideal man

Torn on De Boer

On one hand, you'd think he's exactly what we need. An ambitious manager looking to make a reputation

On the other hand, should we be looking at more of a proven guy at this point?

Martinez was an experiment that didn't work out. Should we be so quick to attempt another one so soon?

At least with someone like Loew, he's won the biggest thing you can possibly win in International Football, while also giving youth a chance in the process.

For me, I think we should at least explore Loew as next manager. Put an offer in and see what he thinks. If he turns us down, he turns us down, but we should at least talk to him IMO

Out of the ones already mentioned, I'd probably go Pellegrini, Koeman and De Boer in that order, but there isn't much in it

Pellegrini would likely have us doing well in the Cup and probably in the European hunt, but it's not as if his sides defend that much better than Martinez's

I think we need a manager who can organise a defence and still have the team playing some nice football. That's Jogi for me

I am going to keep saying this but it is absolutely critical that whoever comes in must be complemented by a top class good assistant manager.
When I say top class AM, I mean someone who not only knows the EPL inside out but commands the respect of the international Top class managers and Euro/UK players. It has to be someone who is superb tactician and not afraid to tell the manger and the players when things are not working and offer smart and quick solutions.

IMHO, the biggest weakness with many of the managers on the list is that they can over time stick to a stubborn philosophy and have allowed things to go stale because they don,t have that top class assistant manager to advise them when they need to adapt.

Unssy nor Stubbs who I like both a lot are not the calibre of assistant managers I am thinking of to support the new manager post.
