What is the appeal of de Boer for those that voted for him? I don't understand the draw myself, but perhaps I've missed something? League titles with Ajax is hardly unheard of, and he's constantly disappointed in Europe too. That and the generally negative view of him from Ajax fans upon his departure lead me to think that he might not be the best out there. What should I be looking at with him?

I wouldn't read too much in to the current comments of Ajax fans.

They're devastated at losing the title on the final day when they were all expecting to win it.

The fans' comments post match are natural. You know fickle fans are.

Before that match when Ajax were hot favourites to land their 5th title in 6 years, De Boer was THE man.

Since they lost it on the final day he's absolute plop.

After his time with us and Martinez not demanding anything of him Barca sent him to Emery for that "tough love". Emery might actually now be good for him although if he's too good for him Barca will want to buy him back since they're a bit strapped for cash. I love Deulofeu but he needs to work harder especially if he's going to continue to play on the wing.

It's a balance.

Martinez indulged too much, Emery not enough.

First person to win 4 titles in a row with Ajax after taking them over in a shambles. He has had a mixed time in Europe. He has disappointed in the Europa league but has been unlucky in the champions league. e.g. Ajax beat Barca without just parking the bus.
Style is a mixture of Cruyff and Van Gaal. The organization of Van Gaal with the individual flair of Cruyff.
He employs the method of pressing the ball 3 seconds after losing it and often plays with a high press similar to Pochitino and Guardiola.
Plays with two direct wingers and 2 box to box midfielders with one holder who also is used to dictate the game.
Has brought through a number of top players at Ajax including Suarez and Eriksen. Will probably know the Dutch market very well and could attract upcoming Ajax players like Bazoer.
Defensively strong and they score a load of goals.
Will trust, play and be a good mentor for the kids from our academy who are ready to come through. All his previous players speak highly of him.
Will continue the good work of Martinez without throwing it all away and having to start again.

So in essence neither are what we need if we want the best out of young Del Boy?

Maybe, yeh.

Emery is a good manager - I've no doubt in that.

However, for me he's a manager that is excellent at operating on a sell-to-buy basis and getting the best out of players who were bought cheap and he turns them into very good players (Carrico) - or players that had the talent but not the consistency to be at a 'massive' club (Gameiro, Banega). To me that's what makes him a fit for Everton but it also seems very familiar to how Moyes was.

While Emery is not afraid to give youth a chance (Rico), I don't see him as a manager who could get the best out of the young players we have currently, however, and that's why I'd lean towards Koeman if he did indeed want the move, or De Boer - as both would sustain the good things RM put in place, though I'm not overly convinced on De Boer either.

Just my opinion, like.

Though I'm all for that, it'll take a while for him to get our players up to the level of fitness required to do that properly

Will the fan base have the patience for a slow-build at this point?

I think someone like Koeman or Pellegrini could come in and it would be a smoother transition

But then again, I want Loew and he hasn't managed at club level for years. There'd be much adapting to be done in that period

I think people are just uneasy about De Boer because he's unproven

I personally think winning the Dutch League is nothing to be sniffed at, and just because the standard is lower than the English League doesn't mean what works there won't also work here, but I can also see why others are pensive on the matter
