How many years would we get out of him though at this point in his career?
If we get, say, 3 years from Koeman because he takes the Barca job or 3 years from Pellegrini because he wants to retire, does it make much of a difference?
The video was actually labelled dominating display or something, which made me laugh a little bit. Hardly dominating us in the clip when not a single defender is moving at all to even try and win the ball back. A tad bit delusional, even if they have right to gloat at the game.As you've just mentioned Liverpool, anyone else think it's ironic that many reds accuse us of being "obsessed" with them, when you take a glance at RAWK and see a 578 page thread titled " The Everton Topic"?
A Google search also sees many other Everton threads in the past that have long since been locked.

Thst is my only concern with De Boer. Him bringing his staff is going to have a positive influence on the club sure, but as a manager he hasn't done anything of note on his own merit. So him hiring a new coaching staff might not be as successful.Main two reasons I voted De Boer (I like anyone other than Pellegrini mind) are:
1. Can nurture youth whilst possibly bringing with him some cut price Ajax youth players.
2. If he brought Bergkamp, Stam & Overmars with him... astute. All players who know the league and I'm sure our players could learn a thing or two from them.
I see your point, but we could have one successful year with Koeman and if Enrique suddenly went, or more likely Danny Blind stepped down, he'd be on a shortlist for both jobs (probably favourite for the Dutch national team in a World Cup cycle). Even if Pellwgrini did retire, the message is very different, he's not a manager seeing us a stepping stone. What message does it send to players if they know their manager might go as soon as a better offer comes up?
...I'm not totally convinced by the 'has to work harder' point re Deulofeu. He's primarily an offensive winger who gives us the creativity not many others can. Sure he has to put in a shift but we have industrious wide players in Lennon and Cleverley, it's really important we don't negate Deulofeu's strengths. I feel we are a better team when he plays.
thought he came across v well in press conf and post match interview as well, still be big risk tho
I am going to keep saying this but it is absolutely critical that whoever comes in must be complemented by a top class good assistant manager.
When I say top class AM, I mean someone who not only knows the EPL inside out but commands the respect of the international Top class managers and Euro/UK players. It has to be someone who is superb tactician and not afraid to tell the manger and the players when things are not working and offer smart and quick solutions.
IMHO, the biggest weakness with many of the managers on the list is that they can over time stick to a stubborn philosophy and have allowed things to go stale because they don,t have that top class assistant manager to advise them when they need to adapt.
Unssy nor Stubbs who I like both a lot are not the calibre of assistant managers I am thinking of to support the new manager post.
I think you hit the nail on the head. That is what Martinez was aiming for however the problem with Martinez is that it was a pale imitation. De Boer learnt it from both the people who created it just like Guardiola. He's not a cheap knockoff that at first looks like the real deal but in a short time you start seeing the horrible flaws until the whole thing comes apart.

But saying that, he is a little bit of a unknown commodity considering how little he invested into his team and relied on youth rather than signings. For all we know he could have a good eye for a player and is successful on that front.
Either way im personally not holding anything against him if he were to become e our new manager until 3 years down the line
There is only 4 managers I personally don't want. Moyes, Rodgers, mancini, benitez.I'm more excited at the thought of him than I was about Martinez because he's at least won the league a few times (Dutch or not it's still a league to be won). If he came in it could be a train wreck who knows but I like to see managers work closely with our academy which Martinez was good at and is why I'm not fussed Mourinho has gone now. I just want someone appointed soon now whomever it may be.
