Since Martinez was sacked Man Utd have had a bomb scare, won the Fa cup, sacked LVG and are on the verge of appointing arguably the worlds best manager in Jose.
All we've done is fume that Frank De Boer isn't good enough for us.

I'd imagine that we've done a bit more than that but don't bang on about it to everyone like the sluts at old Trafford.

There is going to be some serious competition next season just to get top 6. Utd, city, Spurs, arsenal, RS, West Ham. In my view pelligrini would be the safe appointment, whereas emery is the unknown factor but also has the most chance to build something special. Hence why I said earlier in the thread, pelligrini as DOF and emery as manager to be my preferred option.

I think Pellegrini still has good years in him, would be surprised if his only option was a DoF role, he would probably go to Zenit maybe against his preference rather than that I think.

I don't think any of the 4 candidates would have any difficulty working with a DoF which is a plus for us. Would be interesting if Overmars has been approached, I would like to see someone in that role but it seems to me very difficult with timings.

Can't see a both a new manager and DoF appointed within a short timeframe of each other. It would be potentially disastrous if they could not work together. It may indeed be Joe Royle's job, however much I like him, on reflection I would find it a bit odd. I wouldn't expect him to have his finger on the pulse in terms of player recruitment in a global market, amongst other things, that's a huge ask.

Current odds on William Hill, just as a bit of fun.

Pellegrini looking strong favourite to them now, with Emery overtaking FdB and Koeman now behind Moyes(!). Mourihno has, understandably, dropped off completely.

What ambition did Koeman have in mind when he joined Southampton? Give the Prem a well paid crack and see how it goes? Just concerned he is something of a journeyman even though I appreciate he is totally in the frame.
Have you seen his record. He was lucky to get the job at Southampton. Not Martinez lucky but lucky all the same.

Frustrating that Moyes is on the list

Favre has experience in making a once-great club (Gladbach) respectable again. They're not winning titles and European Cups anymore, but he took a team that barely survived relegation and had them in the CL the next season. They've made the CL 4 seasons in a row now, the first three under him.

The silence on Koeman's end is hard to read. Glass half full says it may be that he's talking to us but understandably keeping it hush in case it doesn't happen.

Should be a hell of a week. Emery, Koeman, Pellegrini, Frank De Boer in that order for me.

Spot on...walk before running its great though that we are being linked with a higher class of managers than Hughes, Howe Moyes etc
Hughes and Moyes are dinosaurs of the game, Howe is a real prospect but I believe we are looking for a manager that is a level above
We have a great opportunity here....big decisions to be made

Probably on holiday...

I think he'd take the job if offered tbh
