So everyone who thinks Pellegrini would be a good signing must believe Mancini would be the signing of a life time

Four Coppa Italia

Three Serie A titles

One Prem League

One FA cup

Pellegrini has absolutely no personality. Whether this be because English isn't his first language or whatever, but seeing Emery celebrate like a little boy winning the EL in front of Klopp makes me want him as Everton manager.

Even De Boer and Koeman have a sense of class, authority, and respect.

Pelligrini is a good manager but not in the same bracket as Mourinho or Pep. If he is appointed he will do a good job and lay the foundations for a successor. I think he needs to have the likes of Unsworth as his assistant. Emery for me still though.

What's the hurry Blues?

Let's have some faith in this guy Moshiri and take our time to get the right fella in.
I think Pelegrini's league form this season, when he was unofficially and then officially living in Guardiola's shadow, skews a lot of peoples opinions of him. Of all the people on the shortlist, he may be the one with the most to prove and certainly a more than capable appointment. It's him or Emery for me. It's a very good shortlist tho, a lot has changed since we appointed Martinez!
Its got to be Emery, Pellegrini would be 105 at the end of a three year contract far to old

Tbf there not many in the same bracket at Mourinho and Pep

Have I missed something in the last two hours ? Pellegrini has shot to the top of the favourites lists on oddschecker. Quite a jump for an old man !
I think the odds reflect the fact he has been interviewed for the job. Likewise when emery is interviewed this week watch his odds drop like a stone. I'm glad moshiri is taking his time and not rushing into an appointment.

I asked you before...who is your choice and why....

Then lets talk

Koeman

Looks shrewd in the transfer market

Looses his best players each summer but seems to come back just as strong

Finished just 3 points of the top 4 this season and plays a good style of football from the matches I have seen

Won things in Holland and Spain

Players will respect him

....that's interesting, you're suggesting the DoF will be responsible for identifying and signing players. If that's the case his appointment is as important as the managers.
I'm not sure how the setup will work, but I suspect that if we get a DoF then transfers will not (solely) be the managers domain. I think a DoF is as important (if not moreso) than the manager himself, as the DoF is likely to be the man that is building our future while the manager is responsible for the day to day results.

I could be totally wrong on this, of course, but managers turn over so quickly these days and they are the public scapegoat when things go wrong (regardless of fault). That makes me personally believe that there is value in a manager who is basically a first team coach with some added benefits. I don't think a manager should have no say - but he also shouldn't be the ultimate power regarding transfers. When a manager has that power then a run of bad results can easily cause panic, which can lead to an awful (pricey) purchase...like one Oumar Naisse. A DoF should have a little more patience as he's building holistically for the benefit of the club rather than for the immediate result needed to save his job.

At least that's what I suspect the main use of a DoF is in the modern era - to protect clubs from the short-termism regarding managers.

As much as we like to think Everton as a big club, just look at the CVs of those two, of the clubs they have managed. As you say I can't think of any other current managers with success that those two have. They are literally in a league of their own, hence why they are city and Uniteds managers earning 10s of millions a season.
