Koeman

Looks shrewd in the transfer market

Looses his best players each summer but seems to come back just as strong

Finished just 3 points of the top 4 this season and plays a good style of football from the matches I have seen

Won things in Holland and Spain

Players will resect him

I'm talking about people dissecting the likes of Pellegrini as if they aren't good enough for us. Yet Pellegrini was good enough for a title challenging team and was good enough for real Madrid to appoint.

Yet here is a mid table team whos best players may want to leave and previous appointments have been poor for what, 19 years and suddenly the former real Madrid manager isnt good enough

I can understand reservations about De Boer or fears of Moyes or whatever sure. But Pellegrini for arguments sake has been sought after by much more successful teams in recent years.
We watch Man City more often so we know their flaws and he does strike me as a rich man's Martinez. All the complaints about defense and soft underbelly just screams more of the same.

I thought it would be Pellegrini ever since he said he fancied taking on the right project in the premier league. At the time it almost sounded like he been briefed about the job and that was long before Martinez was given the boot.

However the rumors about Koeman must be true because if they weren't and it will be Pellegrini then it would have been announced by now.

I suspect Emery and De Boer are this year's Victors.

Silence from Koeman, talk of meetings with Pellegrini and Emery. I'm not convinced the interest in Emery is anything other than exploratory at this stage. Overt pressure being applied on Koeman I think.

De Boer would surely have been appointed by now if they thought they couldn't do any better. He may still get the job, but seemingly only if Koeman and then Pellegrini turn it down. I don't see the latter happening.

Just not sure where Emery fits in the picture, obviously it would be great if he has genuinely moved to the top of the pile. If he is willing to meet, then we are halfway there with him already. He would be a surprise appointment, not least to the media, but very welcome and most fitting for our new found ambition.

Spot on this

Emery is the best of the bunch

You don't win three uefa cups on the run by fluke, this is consistent by Emery.

Koeman been impressive at Southampton. Better then pochettino CX he been quiet but he did say hew wants to finish his contract which got 1 year left.

Pellegrini , proper pedigree and knows his stuff, it's an insult to say he an older Martinez. This is a possibility as he free and and wants to stay in the premiership

I just hope Emery lack of English doesn't put Moshiri off, but it will be a coup if we can convince him to leave Sevilla

There is going to be some serious competition next season just to get top 6. Utd, city, Spurs, arsenal, RS, West Ham. In my view pelligrini would be the safe appointment, whereas emery is the unknown factor but also has the most chance to build something special. Hence why I said earlier in the thread, pelligrini as DOF and emery as manager to be my preferred option.

Since Martinez was sacked Man Utd have had a bomb scare, won the Fa cup, sacked LVG and are on the verge of appointing arguably the worlds best manager in Jose.
All we've done is fume that Frank De Boer isn't good enough for us.

Except 10 days after saying he was going to speak to the Southampton board he's not reached an agreement with them and officially is now on "holiday". With only a year left on his contract, Southampton must be concerned on the effect of "a last year" coach and the very public impression they're now giving of a board who cannot (or more accurately, will not) meet their manager's ambitions.

What ambition did Koeman have in mind when he joined Southampton? Give the Prem a well paid crack and see how it goes? Just concerned he is something of a journeyman even though I appreciate he is totally in the frame.

Everybody we are now linked with is a gamble

There is nobody in that group that can guarantee anything
Even with all the money we have we will still be looking at 2nd tier players at best, all 1st tier players will be wanting minimum of CL football. We will have to be patient and understanding......
Spot on...walk before running its great though that we are being linked with a higher class of managers than Hughes, Howe Moyes etc

Southampton doesn't keep managers any more then two seasons, the last one that done 3 seasons is George Burley in 2005 to 2008

Done some magic with Monchengladbach (sp) but then it went a bit tits up.

Exciting guy though.

Sacked after losing their first 5 games of the season but went on to finish 4th all the same so he bequeathed an excellent squad. Still not back in work 8 months later.
