Biggest thing putting me off Emery is that he tends to play 4-2-3-1 and I am sick to death of that formation.

I tend to agree, however our entire squad, including the U21's, have been exposed to this system for the last three years.

They just need a rocket up their arses & some defensive organisation.

Don't get me wrong - as a whole we are being linked with quality names: Koeman, Pellegrini, de Boer...... But after watching two of their games in the past week and doing some research I can't help but be excited about the prospect of Emery. I think he could be a real turning point for the club......

I think Emery has the potential to take us to another level. Given some money and time I honestly think we'd be challenging for the league and European cups with this guy. I just can't see that with the other candidates.

Yeh I mean I can see why because it turns into 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 so easily but I find it utterly uninspiring to see every single game no matter the opposition. Breath of fresh air to see Leicester and Watford go 4-4-2 or Southampton with 5 at the back.

From reading between the lines, of papers and in the know people here. (I'm not one) I think it's likely to be Pellegrini, if he's had two interviews and now linked with a massive move for Harte. I'd prefer a younger more dynamic manager. But he has the experience and if a big enough name to attract the better players, especially as we can't offer champions league. May be not a bad choice?

Since day 1 havent been that excited in the options(FDB,MP,RK), then we had the Jose rumours and i finally made my mind up i wanted Jose, hes off to Utd so back to meh not arsed, then Emery rumours started and hes the one i want, more then Jose, just have a gut feeling hes the right man. The rest i just cant seem to get excited about, RK to me seems more of a side step, FDB is dutch Martinez, MP just not sure about.
It has to be Emery, everyone else will just be a disapointment

Honestly though, last season when we had nowhere near the ambition have now if we'd have mentioned Koeman you all would have huffed.

Now we have the massive ambition and Koeman is flavour of the month owing to a pretty good half of the season you're all creaming your kecks.

Ridiculous.

He's done a very good job at Soton, that is clear, he has proven he can have his best players sold, and still build a good side and get into the top 6, that is hard to do on the budgets at Soton, it's impressive.

One thing what sticks with me, is the Soton fans rate him better than Poch, they should know, they've seen both over a few seasons each.
