Clearly both good managers.....but still can't fathom why Emery has almost double the votes.

I suspect it's because he's not as familiar therefore perceived to be more exciting.

Anyway, big step up from 3 summers ago
Here's why I would be picking Emery over Koeman:
  • He's won 3 Europa leagues in a row, which no one else has done, beating our nearest rivals in the last final to top it off.
  • Did this with pretty much 3 different teams because of the selling of his best players.
  • Has outperformed consistently in his managerial career.
  • Has a negative net spend in his time managing Valencia/Sevilla of £145 million but finished 6,3,3,3,5,5, & 7th in the league.
  • Koeman nearly got Valencia relegated and fell out with lots of the players. With the same players plus worsening financial problems (players not paid for 2 months) Emery finished 6th.
  • Generally Emery tends to stay at clubs, he was Valencias longest serving manager for 40 years. He's ten years younger than Koeman.
  • Koeman's record as a manager is very patchy. He hasn't won anything for past 8 years, he doesn't stay long at clubs and doesn't have a record of building winning teams.
Given the above I'm not surprised more people are picking Emery. Simply put I think he's a much better manager than Koeman.

Koeman moving around alot is a concern tbf but managers move around alot now, this is becoming the norm.

I agree that Emery is the best out of the two, the issue is the lack of English and can he adapt to English football?

But I would take Emery over Koeman

Can't understand the negativity surrounding Koeman.
  • Knows the league
  • Can clearly spot a player
  • CL winner, name that deserves respect
  • Can set up a defence
  • Plays a formation that fits available players
  • Adaptive during a game
Yet a fella who can't speak English has almost double the votes.

Koeman isn't "sexy" but he's a good step up on our past two.

He is doing the same as Moyes did in the PL for us a couple of seasons ago.

I won't oppose to his appointment but much rather have Emery who is a proven winner.

From what I've heard, he can speak English.

Not that that matters, considering translators aren't uncommon within football clubs and anyone can become fluent in a language in months when immersed in it.

Apparently he can speak in English, obviously not like Koeman, most probably like Pochetino, with some more lessons I don't think it's a big issue. I think his style of play would suit English football but I'm sure he would be able to adapt. If you win the Europa you've had to play against different teams, different tactics, styles of play etc

I recon I haven't a single clue what's going on...or what timeline to study. It's done when it's done and with whoever Moshi Moshi wants.

Just sitting here thinking how great it has been the last couple of weeks not having to hear and read fluffity fluff?
