Although I don’t think Moyes will be back, it is not disaster when he finally return, if we need to build new stadium and hence limited resources in several years, I think a safety option Moyes can provide us consistent results with limited resources until we pay for the debt from new stadium like Arsenal. We want to build a new stadium for more than 15 years, I am willing to maintain top 10 with occasionally european competitions for several years and then I can sit on a new stadium within 5 years.
You might have gotten more support saying We should play at Anfield whilst GP is being redeveloped!

Don't get me wrong - as a whole we are being linked with quality names: Koeman, Pellegrini, de Boer...... But after watching two of their games in the past week and doing some research I can't help but be excited about the prospect of Emery. I think he could be a real turning point for the club......

Agree. Its a bit risky, but any appointment comes with risk. I'd consider Emery a moderate-to-high risk, but high reward, candidate.

Unfortunately, it seems more likely we'll get stuck with Southampton's version of David Moyes in Koeman. Granted, he seems to promote better football and does have some significant silverware from like a decade ago, but being a bargain buyer and getting a team punching above their weight doesn't necessarily encourage me to give him one of our largest transfer budgets, rely on him to attract quality players and get us back into Europe.

Koeman is the stable option, but like you said, Emery is the option that could potentially really elevate the club. I guess I'd prefer that riskier option myself.

I would welcome Emery with open arms.

Putting myself in his shoes I have no idea why I would take the job other than a massive payday.

That said, I have left very comfortable circumstances for much more difficult ones in the past for 'greener' pastures betting on myself to be successful.

Lets hope that Emery feels that the third cup win fullfilled his work at Sevilla. He has CL year coming up, though, and clearly is sitting on winning formula with Sevilla.

I love that we are linked with him. But this probs is just clever job from EFC. We are rising our profile and putting pressure on our real target. (?)

Anyways, Emery would be dream come true.

How did that go?

Part of me wants them to take their time and look at all options, then i also wish they'd hurry up and get a new manager in place so we can get some transfers done and i can support the new manager!!

Transfer window opens in July I believe? No rush. Get it done before the Euros I say so the new man can settle.

SOUTHAMPTON - Ronald Koeman was in charge and owner of Everton number one candidate to succeed the sacked Roberto Martinez, but the Dutchman gives priority to talks on a new contract with his current employer Southampton. Those discussions will commence probably already during his vacation and be done by its new management. Koeman leaves From now represent Rob Jansen of the Wasserman Group. With his English club Koeman for the second consecutive season performed above expectations. He took a record 63 points and qualified for the Europa League at the expense of big clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea. Southampton wants to capture him up for several seasons, because the English are afraid that he is a candidate for one of the top clubs in the near future. The current contract expires in 2017 Koeman. Everton's Frank de Boer the other candidate. The club from Liverpool is overwhelmed with applications from top trainers, who want to work in the Premier League and now puts first things straight.

That's a dodgy translation from the Dutch paper De Telegraaf this morning which seems to be pretty reliable when it comes to their Dutch players and managers.

Although the Esk was hinting last night that Koeman was the one we're getting ever closer to landing so who knows what is going on..

Can't understand the negativity surrounding Koeman.
  • Knows the league
  • Can clearly spot a player
  • CL winner, name that deserves respect
  • Can set up a defence
  • Plays a formation that fits available players
  • Adaptive during a game
Yet a fella who can't speak English has almost double the votes.

Koeman isn't "sexy" but he's a good step up on our past two.

I would love Koeman but also Emery as he won the uefa cup three times on the run, do you know how hard it is to win this once, never mind three times.

I believe Emery is the better manager but Koeman does have 2 things over him
Speak English but Emery would pick this up quickly
Plus premiership experience which is valuable in a delicate situation we find ourselves in.

Both managers have 1 year left, tbf we can't go wrong with either of them

I believe Koeman is our first choice

Clearly both good managers.....but still can't fathom why Emery has almost double the votes.

I suspect it's because he's not as familiar therefore perceived to be more exciting.

Anyway, big step up from 3 summers ago
