To be fair Southampton have been asset stripped like we never were under Moyes. And the league these days has changed financially, so there are more teams realistically competing for the top 7. Koeman is also much more flexible tactically which was my biggest annoyance with Moyes.

Still an interesting comparison though. I don't think Koeman is a massive step up from Moyes but he's definitely a step up.

Koeman's Southampton haven't got the top players that Moyes's Everton had, but he has got a much better squad than what Moyes had here. Moyes pretty much just had like 14 people that he got a full season out of.

Granted, if it came down to a binary choice between Koeman and Moyes I'd go for Koeman but I think we should be aiming higher than him though.

If we were to get Emery, it might be worth offering No 2 role to Paul Clement. Fantastic coach and assistant, plus he is well regarded by some of the top players in Europe, whom speaks Spanish as well as other languages.

Wouldn't be a bad appointment for us.

Unai Emery has given a brief response to rumours linking him with the Everton job and said: "I'm very good at Sevilla."

The three-time Europa League winning coach was asked about speculation regarding the vacant managerial position at Goodison during celebrations for his current club's European trophy.

Emery, whose team were in contention for two cups before losing to Barcelona in the final of Spain's Copa Del Rey on Sunday night, is believed to have been sounded out already by Blues officials.

But the man who foiled Liverpool in Basel last Wednesday gave no indication he is considering a move away from Spain, despite having only a year left on his contract.

Emery has been linked with Everton but says he's happy at Sevilla

The report, in Spanish paper Tu Periodico Deportivo, appears to suggest that the Basque is flattered by Everton's interest despite being happy in Andalusia.

But Sevilla's sporting director Monchi has insisted that Emery will remain at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, when asked about other stories suggesting he could be in line for the AC Milan job.

“He has renewed with Sevilla, even before the Europa League Final,” he told Calciomercato.com.

“What if Milan were to pay a release clause? He will not go to Milan. He will definitely stay at Sevilla.”

Song written, i don't think its going to be Emery. Think Sevilla is a good thing for him at the moment.

So Ronald it is.

Reckon that rules Monchi out of DoF then, if he was even in the running.

Marc Overmars then, who else is there?

Going off there there is a few!!! Never knew half of them where DoF (or sporting directors known elsewhere)...!

Anyone but Moyes, anyone, rather have Mark Hughes.

I really think it will be De Boar as I cant see Emery or Koeman leaving there clubs right now, as much as we don't want it to be true it will be a step backwards for Emery and Koeman has won nothing anyway so not bothered about him.
