Our fossorial friend is correct in that it now seems Koeman has only eyes on a bigger prize than us beyond next season.

However as I mentioned on Tuesday evening matters elsewhere have been developing and this emerging candidate would be almost universally popular. He is also consistent with the "if the preferred candidate was out of contract we would have announced it by now" theory discussed yesterday.
So a manager who is currently in a job and would be a popular appointment? I can't think of many managers that we've been linked to who actually fulfill this criteria. Emery is the obvious one.

Hopefully the club is going all out to convince Emery with what appears Pellegrini as backup plan.

Thanks for the info, Esk!

My point is that @TheEsk continues to say that Koeman is the front runner and that couldn't be further from the truth.

Koeman gave us his decision earlier in the week.

It's your good self, isn't it?

Mancini could be another one, but he wasn't in the shortlist originally. Might be what esk means by emerging candidate though.

Wow, so Koeman is out of the race. Dropping like flies. So we're left with Emery, then Pellegrini then FDB. At least we know FBD actually wants the job, I don't even really want him but the fact that he's willing makes me want to just give it to him.

I really can't see Emery taking it for some reason, even though that would be an absolute dream come true.

Word of the day!

On topic, I find it interesting that while you agree with @themole10 that RK is seemingly out of the running, you appear at odds about the popularity amoungst the fanbase of the new target.

On RK, I have to be honest the main reason he appealed to me was to stick one in the eye of the press / ex-players who have tried to claim Southampton are bigger, as a manager though I was never that fussed.
