a lot of you were hoping for, and thinking it was maybe a tiny chance of us getting Mourinho earlier. However, the same lot now says that it is impossible to get Simeone. Fact it, It was harder to get Mourinho than it is to get Simeone, so I find it strange that you could believe there was a chance for Mourinho, but not Simeone..

I was excited enough yesterday with the Emery and Mancini link so if that is the possibility then we need to secure one of those ASAP.

I reckon RM is who Lucy Meacock meant due to her north west ties.

Whatever his true motivations were, Mourinho approached us. That naturally brings a sense of belief that we might just be able to get him.

Simeone hasn't. There's absolutely nothing to link him to us.

People here need to lower their expectations. Martinez took us backwards and delayed progress remember. The next manager will not come from a high profile club to manage a mid table team.

We all look at it differently because we are Everton and we are a big club, but to a 40 year old male who lives in Spain and has played in Italy, Everton are no different than Stoke City or West Brom. Sorry to be blunt about it but to people who do not support Everton, we are a mid table Premiership team

Reference checks on Pellegrini haha. Imagine if he got his dates wrong on his CV.

"Sorry Manuel, it says here that you were manager at Universidad Catolica between 1993-1997. It seems you left their employment in 1995. Could you please explain this discrepancy to us?"

Reference checks - what
Be amazed if this isn't wrapped up by next week, if it goes on into the Euro's questions need to be asked why and alarm bells need to start ringing over the possibility of Moyes returning.

Yes- reminds me of Kendall 3. No manager for ages linked with loads and then Kendall came in late on in panic signed rubbish and we nearly went down!

That's why he's not leaving. He just wants to put pressure on their board. If he was thinking that way he would have let a few clubs know especially Chelsea.
Honestly think he said it in the heat of the moment following the disappointment of losing to their city finals. There has been no indication he is considering his position as atletico manager. The only club I could have foreseen him managing was Chelsea, if there was any indication he was considering leaving, Chelsea would have been all over him like a rash.

On Pellegrini I've got two worries, the first one is his age, and the short periods of times he's spent at previous clubs not that any of that affects his coaching ability at all but someone turning 63 probably isn't going to want to go through a full rebuild and develop a young list to compliment the batch of youngsters we've got coming through and current players like Stones, Barkley and Galloway that can challenge the big guns in years further down the track. If he came in he'd be chasing instant success rather than trying to build a squad. My second concern is his transfer record he really does have quite a poor record when you consider the amount of money he's spent. If we did bring in a director of football came in it'd be there job to build the squad, discuss bringing youth in, work on the policies and how the transfer budget is spent allowing Manuel to concentrate on man management and tactics, which are renowned as his managerial strengths.

He's not my number one preference but I think with a DoF he could be a really good option and I'd have faith in him taking our great club foward. No where near as bad as people are making him out to be.

There must be a significant chance he fancies a new start. How can he go again there, they'll all be as flat as a pancake. If he does want to come to England, he would look at Klopp Mourinho and Guardiola all within twenty miles of him, then look at Moshiri promising to treble his wages. Nobody else in England is recruiting. Then he'd look at Stones and Lukaku. I can't see soft ars mouthing off to the press about ambition if he came in.
I think there s a small but significant chance Moshiri could pull this off, and ill bet he's trying to get in his ear in the next 48.
