What were his quotes after the final? I assumed that it was just wishful thinking. Are there any decent links to Simione? Seems to have just been generated from his quotes after the UCL final, surely he'd have better offers.
Have to agree that this is a realistic assessment though not what everyone on here wants to believe. I'd add Koeman to that also.If we were to get Pellegrini or emery then that is a massive coup for the club. To go from Martinez and Moyes to thst level of manager will be fantastic, but that's it. No simeone, no guadiolas, not even Jose's who only ever saw us as a last resort job.

But we aren't a sleeping giant. We have spent 21 years pretty much treading water, almost relegated more than once. We haven't got a hated rivalry because in all fairness in the modern game we have been miles behind them even when they have struggled.
We haven't got a billionaire takeover ala city or Chelsea and we aren't going to be spending 100s of millions on players like them. We have a business man who will turn the club around and make us run properly.
As i always say, who cares if we won the title 30 years ago, makes no odds to a top manager these days who just see us for what we are, a mid table club with nothing of note for a long time and therefore not even in the same league as teams regularly competing in the champsions league.

Plus the job here is far too big to walk into easily. We need a massive squad rebuild to even get anywhere near where we used to be never mind surpassing that.

I think it's because he's avaliable. That's controlling the bookies thoughts, Id say there is no chance.I'm surprised de Boer has remained favourite throughout. Surely if we wanted him we would have already got him?
Define a sleeping giant then, I'm confused. But we aren't a sleeping giant. We have spent 21 years pretty much treading water, almost relegated more than once. We haven't got a hated rivalry because in all fairness in the modern game we have been miles behind them even when they have struggled.

Wow.I wondered about Simeone too after his depressed-sounding quotes about losing 2 finals being "failure". Trouble is, the way atletico sat back so deep on Saturday reminded me of Moyes
