You know it makes sense...

He'd have no messing from Lukaku

If we were to get Pellegrini or emery then that is a massive coup for the club. To go from Martinez and Moyes to thst level of manager will be fantastic, but that's it. No simeone, no guadiolas, not even Jose's who only ever saw us as a last resort job.
Have to agree that this is a realistic assessment though not what everyone on here wants to believe. I'd add Koeman to that also.

What were his quotes after the final? I assumed that it was just wishful thinking.

He'd just seen his team lose the Champions League final on pens. I'd take what he said with a pinch of salt.

" I want to manage in the premiership, take a mid table team to the Brittania Stadium on a cold wet Tuesday night! It's my dream !

But we aren't a sleeping giant. We have spent 21 years pretty much treading water, almost relegated more than once. We haven't got a hated rivalry because in all fairness in the modern game we have been miles behind them even when they have struggled.

We haven't got a billionaire takeover ala city or Chelsea and we aren't going to be spending 100s of millions on players like them. We have a business man who will turn the club around and make us run properly.

As i always say, who cares if we won the title 30 years ago, makes no odds to a top manager these days who just see us for what we are, a mid table club with nothing of note for a long time and therefore not even in the same league as teams regularly competing in the champsions league.

Plus the job here is far too big to walk into easily. We need a massive squad rebuild to even get anywhere near where we used to be never mind surpassing that.

I disagree on a few points here, but even if you believe your own mantra, who is likely to take us from the Nadir you claim we are in?
At least aim high otherwise we'll be in a constant whirlpool of regression.

People knocking Pelligrini are suffering from delusions of grandeur. City are a great example of what we need to do. Its only now they have a top tier manager after how many years throwing money about. They had Hughes, Mancini, Pelligrini and now Guardiola. Having money does not instantly equate to getting what you want instantly, this is going to take time. I would love Emery but if not then someone like Pelligrini is not to be sniffed at. Be a fine appointment and it will be a shame if we miss out because there seems to be some strange love affair for Koeman going on.

Define a sleeping giant then, I'm confused.

From The Express, 'Moshiri was spotted spending his weekend in Milan taking in the Champions League final.'
This is interesting as Ol Moley suggested, well in advance, that EFC would be in Milan to interview Emmery and Mancini on that day. Going to be interesting to see what he says this week.
