Is Sevilla's team even that good? Okay there's a couple of cracking players in there, but generally throughout the squad, is it a squad that should be winning titles in Spain and doing well in the Champions League? Not for me.

Just shows what a good coach he is. Three Europa league wins on the spin is incredible. He clearly gets the best out of his players.

He's even managed to make a player of N'Zonzi ffs.

Dont forget he gives a mandate to the DOF who then provides a shortlist of players fitting the description of who he wants....

So he has chosen this type of player.....workmanlike high stamina players over flair....other than Banega im struggling to think of one flair player there.

For me, and this is a personal opinion, its boring to watch....a bit like leicester i suppose but without the cutting edge thst vardy and mahrez provide.

Hang on just one damn second mate.

You can't say Monchi is the best thing since sliced bread because he handles all the transfers and the style of play, and then blame Emery for bad transfers and the style of play.

@Screech sorry copied off wiki on phone.

[QIn 2000, after Sevilla got relegated from the top division, Monchi was appointed its director of football.[2] He was given two objectives by the board: develop the club's youth system and implement a vast scouting policy inside and outside Spain.

Monchi clearly shone in both tasks, as a big number of wonderkids came through the Rojiblancos youth setup (notably Diego Capel, Alberto Moreno, Jesús Navas, Antonio Puerta, Sergio Ramos and José Antonio Reyes),[3] and he also created a network of over 700 scouts around the world. Within this setup, he also helped the club discover a number of profittable bargains (including Adriano, Dani Alves, Júlio Baptista, Federico Fazio, Seydou Keita or Ivan Rakitić),[4] and helped it establish in the top half of the top division in the subsequent decades, making a profit of around €200 million.[5]

UOTE="Screech, post: 4542769, member: 5298"]When Monchi arrived they had just finished 8th in their first season back in La Liga. Does't seem like 'major dire straits'
[/QUOTE]

Ah fair enough, I just went to Sevillas page and ctrl+f'ed Monchi and the first result was the President 'confirming' Monchi as director, guess that was more of a reaffirmation rather than appointment.

Frank de Boer know this week if he gets to work at Everton. The Algemeen Dagblad expects 'The Toffees' the coming days to make a decision on the new coach. De Boer belongs with Ronald Koeman to the five candidates. The chance that Koeman Southampton swapped Everton is considered small, but De Boer is different. After five and a half years, Ajax, he is without a club. The successful coach is considering according to the AD very sabbatical, but Everton is a possible exception. Everton among the list a project perspective. Other candidates on the list are Manuel Pellegrini (last season working at Manchester City) Unai Emery (Sevilla won the Europa League) and David Moyes (Everton worked for before he left for Manchester United in the past). Everton will return to the second tier of England. Under Roberto Martinez witnessed the second club from Liverpool a disappointing season. That's why he was fired. To make the step up, consider switching to Everton 'Dutch' model with a trainer and a technical director. For the latter task is interested in Marc Overmars Ajax, although it is unrelated to the possible arrival of De Boer.

....I suspect the Coach and DoF roles shouldn't be looked at in isolation, to be really successful they have to be a partnership. The Coach manages on-field matters, team selection and tactics etc. He discusses transfer requirements with the DoF who has a vast knowledge of talent and makes deals happen. They have to have a joined-up, integrated approach and if they effectively dovetail it can be a perfect storm.

Monchi does the buying and selling....generating profits.

He provides the list of players to emery who then chooses off the list with monchi and i would imagine the head scout.

But the style of player and type would be emerys choice. Thats where monchi comes in with the shortlist of players of that type.

Dear Farhad,

I'm getting really impatient, Been waking up every morning to check the news, every lunch break, and at least 3 times a night since may 13th to be disappointed that you still can't find the man for the job!! If it is taking so long to make a decision then how can you expect the fans to have any faith in the shortlisted candidates. Clearly none have stood out enough for you to make a decision, therefor none are good enough to bring back the glory days! Theres no top managers left that have expressed any interest so stop dragging this out and make a decision, the longer you hesitate the more we loose faith!
I really hope you a WOOL or a kopite on a wind up .

Don't understand those who don't rate Emery
Winning three cups on the run is not spawny but consistency. The away record was good before this last season.

Plus he the best we could get right now

Emery
Koeman
Pellegrini
Biesla
Frank
AVB

I doubt you've long to wait to find out mate.
