Yeah, and I'd have done it way before Christmas to give them a run.

I think there's a major risk we're selling out, and losing faith and values from building from within. I'm not saying extra cash won't help, but I think learning from Moyes fantastic rebuilding of the club in absurd financial conditions, and also the minor (ish) investment in Bournemouth and Leicester is better, longer lasting value with a greater squad balance of British talent than a.n.other Spanish manager, with hordes of mercenaries I couldn't give a hoot about.
Literally don't understand the point you're trying to make, and not sure you do either.

We haven't "appointed from within" since Colin Harvey!!

Also - Leicester might be the worst example I've ever heard - all their best players were brought in from other clubs (mostly overseas) and their manager is an Italian.

Southampton, after they are relegated next season.
No chance mate. I want Emery don't get me wrong, got my heart set on it. But Koeman has done two very impressive seasons on the bounce and improved in the secon season, very few managers have done back to back good seasons in the PL and ended up a Flump. Many managers have flukes one and then been found out to be awful, but I'd suggest 2 is rare?

Anyhow it matters not Emery is clearly the man and a huge statement.

Yep, won more
Not for me, he was in relative terms as bad as Martinez last year, has no longevity and is too stubborn in his tactical stance.

Just to qualify the comparison to Martinez, he had Aguero bag nearly 25 goals yet City's fans were on the edge of their seats willing West Ham to not lose to UTD on the penultimate game of the season just to pinch 4th place AND he spent close to £200m on Otamendi, Mangala, Navas, Sterling and Bony. :pint2:

A bloke who claims to be ITK on twitter has been saying all week emery will be done this week and yesterday suggested it was likely thursday it would be announced. Today has said same again, tomorrow will be the day

Got a link to his Twitter?

Sack it, his name is TIM BAEHILL

Must admit my hopes of Emery joining are rising steadily.

We must surely now be in advanced negotiations with him. That means he wants to join us.

That must surely mean both sides have at least agreed on an outline deal in principle and you would hope the next day or two would be taken up with more intricate detail - coaching staff, budget, transfer targets, structures, DoF and so forth.

I have never thought a deal with Emery would fall down due to a failure from our side.

Pellegrini will be appointed on Friday I think!

I suspect there's more than a slight racist and self interested element to the media championing of Moyes Giggs Hughes etc. They may very well think that pushing British managers into positions for which they are totally unsuitable will do them favours with the footballing powers in this country in the short and medium term.
