I scroll through 30 pages, see a post by Esk or Mole and stop for a few seconds before I read it. The feeling I get when this happens is like nerves, like I'm postponing disappointment. Like I need to prepare. The hardwired fear of success us blues have needs to bugger off in this new era. It's already starting too... Is right Moshiri lad

Tell that to Emery, who's won 3 consecutive Europa Leagues with a director of football. Or Pep Guardiola, who spent his time at Barca working with one... Or countless other continental managers for whom that's the norm. Or even Ronald Koeman, who works in that structure at Southampton.

It's the way football is going, and it allows a club to establish continuity across various managers.

It still doesn't necessarily mean that it will work for Everton. There's have been plenty of cases where such a structure has not worked out and has led to personality clashes. If that's the structure the new manager wants to work under then fair enough but i don't think it's a policy that the club hierarchy should be forcing on a manager imo.Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger needed no director of football.

Mate, have a handy shandy and relax.

Yep - Tim de Wit reckons Jansen (agent) and Koeman are en route.

Milan headlines suggest that they are making a very similar offer to Emery as us - massive club, underachieving, ambitious new owners, wad of cash - make us great again.
