he won the cup at Benfica as well.

There's positives and negatives to both Emery and Koeman, but for sake of argument, Emery's average stint at a club so far is just under 2.5 years. Koeman's is 2 years bang on.

The average for managers now is 3 years anyways i believe... end of the day the dynasty of Ferguson and Wenger are gone. That won't be replicated and pretty confident of that.

I have no qualms about Koeman - am not dancing around the room, but i am confident he would put us back into contention and working with a good DoF would bring in some quality to boost the team.

Completely agree, RK obviously has eyes on other jobs - but its upto Moshiri to prove to him that we aren't the stepping stone and we can fulfil ambitions, if he can match ours, which is aiming a lot higher then we have previously.

He is a solid appointment, has good winning %'s everywhere he goes, could have a massive stash of cash to play with with a DoF (hopefully Monchi) there is no reason we can't be aligned with ambition.

If he doesnt match Moshiri's ambition and targets, he will get the boot thats for sure, and probably the one thing i reckon is nailed on form now on. If your not upto scratch your gone.

Unfortunately though, and this is in response to the OP as well, we are a stepping stone at the moment.

Whether that be for Koeman or Emery - it's just how it is at the moment. However much we as fans won't accept it for now, those are the facts. We'll get back there, and this appointment will hopefully be the start of that rebuild.

Eh? Moyes was at Preston, in 2001-02...

Out of the two managers, Emery's style is much more similar to Moyes' than Koeman's is.

Honours wise, they're both very different to Moyes...

Eh? i was referring to rationalizing the lack of actually winning by pointing to his transfers.

I would imagine he'll be waiting the outcome of the managerial position before committing one way or the other.

Stories in Spain that Sevilla are now looking to spend more heavily on players this summer than normal, maybe this has swayed Emery and Monchi to re-consider?

No, but it's a far cry better than 11th.

And he's done it on a limited budget having had to deal with the mass exodus of key players each window.

1st season - OUT: Lallana, Lovren, Lambert, Shaw

2nd season - OUT: Clyne, Schneiderlin.

All the while he's shown an astuteness in the transfer market (Tadic, Mane, Van Dijk, Pelle, etc...) and looked to play expansive football with a solid base, while also not being afraid to encourage and integrate youth into the first team.
He seems an upgrade on Martinez I'll give you that.

Do you not think his experience dealing with a large turnover of players and snapping up bargains etc is a bit irrelevant given that we are supposed to be splashing the cash now?

I can't help it but I feel mighty disappointed.
