Word on twitter is that the saints are considering legal action against efc and koeman
This. THIS right here is why I am absolutely not gutted about this. Absolute deluded tits...Word on twitter is that the saints are considering legal action against efc and koeman
Some random Southampton fan has made that up because he's angry
Not sure if posted before but comparison between him and Martinez popped up on my Twitter: http://www.[Publication is blacklis...al&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
With Liverpool enjoying another European night on Thursday, the mood is very much a happy one at Anfield.
Across Stanley Park though, it is anything but, with winds of discontent swirling around Goodison Park.
That comes after another disappointing season, in which Everton sit 11th in the Premier League table and have failed in both domestic cup semi finals.
The pressure is firmly on manager Roberto Martinez as a result, with many Everton fans now calling for him to be replaced.
There have been several names listed, and Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is among those.
But would the Dutchman represent an improvement on Martinez? The stats over the last two years make for interesting reading.
Won Drawn Lost Points Goals Total Scoring Attempts per Game Goals Conceded per Game Possession Percentage per Game Appearances
Southampton 49 26 37 173 161 13.68 1.05 53.39 112
Everton 43 34 34 163 164 13.46 1.24 53.52 111
In that time his side have managed more wins, 49 to 43, and fewer draws, culminating in them also picking up more points in that period, 173 to 163.
They have also been a slightly better attacking team, as they come out with a narrow victory in regards to total scoring attempts per game.
Defensively they have also proved better than Martinez’s side, whose goals conceded per game tally is higher than the Saints’.
Surprisingly though, Southampton have managed to lose three more games than Everton and score three fewer goals, 161 to 164.
Possession wise they are also lower, although it is minimal enough to be negligible.
A win for Koeman though, whose side comes out on top in five of the six areas looked at, suggesting the Dutchman would be a viable replacement for Roberto Martinez.
Would Ronald Koeman be a good replacement for Roberto Martinez at Everton?
In all seriousness I feel for you mate and I'm not trying to patronise you either.7th place then 6th place for a 'small' team like Southampton isn't really bad going. You lot seem to think you're a bigger team with more potential than us (Saints fan here), so if Koeman can guide Everton to better positions than 7th and 6th place, that wouldn't be too bad, right?
I really hope @The Esk can explain why Moshiri thought he's the best man for the job? He hasn't won anything in about 8 years, failed pretty spectacularly in Spain and brought a Southampton team stability. I really just don't see what they see in him beyond "he already knows the PL".
Appreciate he has a patchy managerial record prior to going to Southampton. However it is undeniable he has been an outstanding success given how that club has been run, he's really succeeded way beyond the level of support he received from his board.
He's clearly destined for big things in the future (hopefully with Everton for the next few years). He's intelligent, a good man manager and carries a huge pedigree as a footballer. I'm sure he's convinced Moshiri that he can buy into and contribute hugely to the development plan that Moshiri has for the club. It has the potential to be the start of a dynasty particularly if we have Monchi alongside as DoF.
Aside from the "super" managers and perhaps Emery, I believe we have the best and most suitable candidate for the job.
