Appreciate he has a patchy managerial record prior to going to Southampton. However it is undeniable he has been an outstanding success given how that club has been run, he's really succeeded way beyond the level of support he received from his board.

He's clearly destined for big things in the future (hopefully with Everton for the next few years). He's intelligent, a good man manager and carries a huge pedigree as a footballer. I'm sure he's convinced Moshiri that he can buy into and contribute hugely to the development plan that Moshiri has for the club. It has the potential to be the start of a dynasty particularly if we have Monchi alongside as DoF.

Aside from the "super" managers and perhaps Emery, I believe we have the best and most suitable candidate for the job.
How likely is monchi given no emery?

7th place then 6th place for a 'small' team like Southampton isn't really bad going. You lot seem to think you're a bigger team with more potential than us (Saints fan here), so if Koeman can guide Everton to better positions than 7th and 6th place, that wouldn't be too bad, right?

Hahaha we are much bigger mate

Our greatest ever player is Dixie Dean

Yours is wobbly chops, oh I could've played for a big club if I chose except no one wanted me and I've the ambition of a slug Le Tissier

Our man Ronny K saw that the good ship Goodison was the only game in town and has left your jarg version of Calais to rot

Godspeed

Once again, we have a compromise. He is not the best available as both Pellegini and Emery are proven winners, he is a safe pair of hands, a la Moyes. We were on the verge of a new era, if this happens we have accepted second best.........

I bear no resentment towards Saints fans, and I only drink their tears being fully mindful of the pain I regularly suffer as an Evertonian.

But, in all honesty, it must come down to 'ambition' - I obviously believe Everton are a historically bigger club by all measures, but I think Koeman's decision to come here (if it is indeed true, because if not then I am a mug) comes down to the project he has been offered; and Southampton's owners are considerably richer than Moshiri, so must be capable of matching it, no?

Feed the fume.

I agree with this but I hope the question doesn't go unanswered, why didn't we get Emery when it was clear that we were interested.?

Cant see Koeman convincing Stones and Rom to stay

First time poster, long time lurker. Wasn't thrilled with the news of Koeman but realistically it's a great appointment since we are bottom half of the table and 2 of our better players want to leave.

I know I'm in the minority here...but I'm totally fine with rom going, heads gotten too big for me.

Saints fan here. Gutting to hear that Koeman looks to be joining you, but £7 million a year is something that we just couldn't afford to do, or many clubs for that matter. I did say back in a posts a few weeks back the board may well push Koeman if he indicates that he won't be signing a new deal as we have a new "5 year plan" in the works and they may feel they need to move on so we don't have to do this next season a year into the plan.
Anyways, you have a good manager, much better then Moyes etc. He's a good man manager too, and good at talking to the media and building a good relationship with the fanbase. I can almost assure you he will work wonders for you in the coming seasons, and that's painful to say! All the best for the season ahead, looking forward to doing the double over you though. ;)

Pelligrini would have been a gash appointment and Emery didn't fancy it.

Pre-Moshiri we'd have ended up with Howe or Hughes

Re Monchi - all the early indications this week were very positive, no reason why it can't be concluded successfully.

The way the media has swung it around it seems as if they were some inseparable pair (him nd emery) Hopefully we snag him

Pellegrini never impressed Moshiri - quotes were "uninspiring and looking for a big pay day". Emery - I don't know, but he's got Sevilla committing more funds this summer.
