Perhaps his 3rd season would have been the kiss of death so hes wisely leaving them.

Im just totally dismayed. Honestly hes one of the worst options for us.

And perhaps your speculation is nothing more than complete and utter guff.

After your stance on wanting to keep Martinez and now this, you are coming across a bit "away with the fairies" to say the least!

When man city first became bankrolled with a lot more " billions" than we have, they got in Mark Hughes. That for all their riches, was what their profile as a club could get them at that time in their development. Don't forget they also had a ready built new ground. Then when their profile and league position got larger, they upgraded to Erickson, then onto Mancini. Progression it takes time, money and growth of your profile as a club. Believe me Koeman is a better start than Mark Hughes and if we can get in someone like Monchi......

I have to disagree.
Have you not seen the reaction within the UK to the very thought of us approaching him?

'Why would he go there'
'He can do so much better than Everton'
'Everton are a bit unrealistic to go for him'

That is from fans, pundits, journalists, football experts etc.
Agents and footballers get influenced by two things, money and perception .

This will be perceived as quite a coup , a significant appointment and his reputation, alongside the new found 'gravitas' that Moshiri project seems to have will attract players hugely.

I wonder how foreign experts rate this appointment?

Ive already had a few messages laughing about it.

Hes not exactly done well in Spain has he.....valencia was the biggest club he managed and look what he did to them....even had their captain file a court case.

He will be a disaster....these so called experts in UK probably see him as flavour of the month. Im sure the same was said about many other managers from paul jewell and martinez through to martin oneill.

What so the next Barcelona/Arsenal manager is not worth £6m?. Why are people so assed about what where paying him?. You all wanted our owner to splash the cash. And if we didnt pay him the £6m you would all be sitting fuming now that we ended up with De Boer.

Has anyone considered it could be his agent feeding rubbish to get a better contract at Southampton? I know a few sources have said its done but their local paper have said we've made no approach which is strange...and he changed agent only a few weeks back. Someone is lying...

I'm with you, not totally!my convinced we have got him yet, gutted that the Emery shouts have gone quiet but it was never really got gong in the media. Yesterday was the first day that the press have started spreading rumours so I believe this is our guy but we don't know Koeman motives yet.

lol at some people on here getting their knickers in a twist because we haven't gone for the flavour of the week - get a grip of yourselves. You'd think we're about to appoint Gary Megson the way some of you are going on.

Like many people on here I'd have preferred Emery, simply because he'd bring something a bit different, but nobody of sound mind can deny that Koeman has done a very good job at Southampton and with our squad, youth team and considerable transfer budget, there's no reason why he can't do even better here.

When Paul Joyce, Andy Hunter or Dominic King start reporting then I'll believe it...since then it's just come from Holland and a paper that tends to be the most unreliable source out there regarding EFC.

I actually said martinez should be given a chance with moshiri money in summer as he can attract top notch players....i then changed my mind based on the performances.

Koeman couldnt attract a top player....Valencias players were in open revolt and some launched court cases against him including their captain.

At AZ in his next job he was just as bad.

This has been a terrific thread over the last (seemingly enless) week. Sad to see it descend into a civil war between fellow Evertonians.

All of us want to see our great club do well, play well and win things. None of us know the future, even Mr Moshiri. We are where we are, and even though our Christmas present wasn't exactly what we wanted, it's still a good one, and was bought at considerable expense and with love. The one we wanted wasn't in stock, it didn't exist. The one we got was the best available.

Let's now play nicely, look forward to the new season, enjoy, for the first time in decades, an exciting transfer period and hope the new boss can get us to a position where the very best managers are clamouring to be the next in the hot seat.

All things are transient. Enjoy the day.

Next Barca manager???

Based on his track record in Spain???

if you look at the poll results far more people wanted FDB than Koeman.

If this goes through why is it we always end up with mediocrity, emery and moshi imo was the team to bring greatness back to this club of ours

Don't talk sense lad.

Our current (longterm) form could indicate possible dangers ahead (look at villa and newcastle and their longterm results and table finishes)

New owner with vision and determination is everything we could have hoped for.

And now he has only smashed the opposition and taken what he wanted. Koeman has his trust. Koeman has the vital PL experience that is needed in this rebuilding process.

Future is bright. Cant wait.

Mate if were paying Ronald Koeman £6mil a season i think the whole of Spain will be in pure disbelief at how stupid we are....

Conpensation to southampton as well.

Koeman is the new Niasse on twice his salary.

I have no doubt whatsoever that is simply phase 1 in Moshiris repositioning strategy. Ronald will either perform or be sacked AND I'm pretty sure other managers/agents will be taking note of the new money at Everton. Happy days.
