As a footballer but not a well respected manager.

I have to disagree.
Have you not seen the reaction within the UK to the very thought of us approaching him?

'Why would he go there'
'He can do so much better than Everton'
'Everton are a bit unrealistic to go for him'

That is from fans, pundits, journalists, football experts etc.
Agents and footballers get influenced by two things, money and perception .

This will be perceived as quite a coup , a significant appointment and his reputation, alongside the new found 'gravitas' that Moshiri project seems to have will attract players hugely.

I'm not underwhelmed by Koeman, if he'd have been announced before Emery was mentioned I think 90% would be happy.

I'm prepared to give him a go, he does have current PL experience, and has managed to get a Southampton side who sell their players into Europe so here's hoping he can do wonders with our apparently humungous transfer kitty/warchest/fund.

In the poll i think he and FDB were necj and neck with mourinho being favourite....the new poll has FDB and Emery miles ahead of him.

Rather than people judging him on players hes lost....why not wonder why theae players have asked to leave or in alderweireld broken a contract not to join.

I cantt see any of our top players being thrilled by this signing....

Thought we were meant to be getting a top manager??

Koeman for £6-7mil in wages?

Disgraceful and stupid.

Rather have Emery /FDB or even Moyes than Koeman.
How can you say he's not a top manager with all the constraints he had at Southampton with players being sold and not having the money back to spend. I think he's done a great job with what he had

We could have appointed SAF and people would find something to whinge about

Not necessarily true.

We have been teased with names of winners this summer, such as Mourinho, Mancini and for the last 7 days a man who has won 3 Europa leagues on the bounce.

We have ended up with what looks the safe option, hence some people not being as thrilled as others.

Not saying it's uninspiring, the man was a legend as a player and commands a bit of respect for that and what he has done at Southampton last two seasons.

Those not happy with Koeman, who do you want then? Being realistic....

If we had a top DOF id prefer even unsworth or Howe.

That at least would be a positive move into the unknown rather than an average at best manager.

May as well have got allardyce.

I totally understand your point, but what I think we must take into account is "who are the available options"?

Emery is perhaps staying put, Jose was probably always going to Man U, so perhaps Koeman is the best of the realistically available bunch?

Mate I can't say who we should or not get as manager. I just think for all the money we've not got anything but a safe manager and that's that. No top 4 no change the mentality etc. Top 10 probably will be were we finish.
