At the same time though he has shown faith in the ones who have been good enough (Ward-Prowse, Targett, Reed). If he can get the best out of Barkley, Del and Stones (presuming only Rom leaves), then that's enough for me. Dowell and Davies will be in and around the first team as well, but no need to rush them through.

Think once you shake the Zatara thought process of deciding your entire academy is good enough to win the league then you see some sense in that.

He did promote young players into the team, perhaps not hundreds but he did pull them up from the under 21s. Only certain ones are good enough for the level we and Southampton are playing at, and if Barkley and Rooney are good enough for thst role at a young age then how many 18 year olds are actually anywhere near that level?

Considering where all the previous call ups have ended up level wise.
