I will say one thing about Koeman: if he signs, theres not a chance in hell the first 3 players he brings in will be the 'quality' of Alcaraz, Robles(like him, but theres no way he's a #1) and fn Kone..
Bang on mate I can't imagine what he'll think when he sees the likes of Kone Robles Niasse and Cleverley.

I think Koeman does favour youth at least he did at Feyenoord.

He signed Classie, Van dijk and Romeu who were young players. He also had Lallana, Clyne, Chambers & Shaw sold on (their best prospects). Targett has been used.

I don't think he's a De Boer or Cocu but do think he will look to integrate more than Emery would have done. I hope so anyway!
I'm all for integrating youth, don't get me wrong on that, as it's one of the things I value the most in a manager. However, if that youth isn't good enough/ready to be integrated it becomes an invalid point to me.

Saying FdB and Cocu have a better record at it is a bit too easy for my liking. Koeman gave a lot of youngsters their debut at Feyenoord, but don't forget the Dutch league is a far lesser and demanding league than the PL. That is physically, mentally and intensivity wise. As a coach you have to perform or you're out. Bringing through youth while at the same time maintaining and living up to the demands of set by your board and pressure from the fans makes that a very difficult decision.

In the end I believe in the principle: ' if you're good enough, you're old enough'. A good manager (interested in yout development) will call that correctly.

He's not a 'top manager'.

Seems like we have 'missed' out on Jose or Emery and have gone for the only choice we had left. No doubt it will be claimed it was his number 1 choice.
.

To be fair, he has more on his CV than David Moyes and Roberto Martinez combined. And if they achieved 4th and 5th respectively at Everton. Then I think Koeman can achieve at least 3rd.

BUT, I really do hope we are not paying him 7m..... That is just ridiculous and screams of desperation. Especially when we could get Pellegrini and De Boer for half the price.

I'm just saying if we have high aspirations we should seek to achieve them. I'm not saying Koeman isn't a promising manager but for us?

My own personal choice has been Emery for about 7 years. I've said it on record here.
Koeman? Nah. Not for me sorry.
I would have preferred emery (voted for him in the poll) but by all accounts he turned us down. Mourinho was just fanciful, but moshiri aimed big and couldn't land the biggest fishes of all.
Koeman is highly regarded, by pundits and the media in general, with some in the media suggesting we couldn't land him as Everton aren't big enough, as he's destined for arsenal et al. You are obviously underwhelmed by his appointment, I'm disappointed we couldn't get emery, but nevertheless will give koeman my full support and hope he brings us the success and progress we crave.

Pellegrini didn't exactly set the world on fire at City, and De Boer is an unknown quantity as far as the prem goes. Both much more risky than Koeman.

Still, we haven't signed a manager who:

a) came from the Championship
b) got relegated in his last job
c) got sacked in his last job
d) got told months in advance he was off and was looking for a nice cushy job pre-retirement

..but someone who is solid and reliable, lacking sparkle yes, but part way between Moyes and Martinez and he won't let us toss away stupid points.
