I know it's hard to say mate, but do you think Martinez is dead man walking? Or can he turn it around with a cup win?

My personal opinion is that he will be realised at the end of the season "by mutual consent". That might happen sooner if we lost the semi-final but I don't know.

I cannot believe that Moshiri sees Martinez as the man to advance the club in the way he wants. The activities of the club in speaking to potential replacements is the firmest indication that the above is correct.

He certainly looks like he knows he's out of a job soon, but maybe that's just stress and my hopeful interpretation of his body language.

Thanks mate, that's what I get too. I think Martinez seems a nice genuine man but this season looks to have taken his toll on him and the penny may have dropped that his methods won't work in England. He can still walk away with a decent reputation and probably get a job in Spain where I do he would excel. There's a lot in it walking away.

And yes you are right, rarely does it end well when people are sounded out, when wheels turn it's hard to stop them turning. I never remember it getting anywhere near this point with Moyes. I am not as connected as you but I've heard 2-3 names consistently mentioned, it is the 4th that puzzles me. Having said that they could be well wide of the mark.

But if that's the case would he have really pushed through with the improvements to the training ground? I mean after all they are Martinez ideas

Be pretty stupid to not go ahead with something that was a very good idea just because you aren't going to keep on the bloke who suggested it though wouldn't it?

Similarly pretty sure some players he bought and some he had as top targets may well be kept on/pursued still

In one respect if we announced that Martinez was leaving by mutual consent and even announced his successor in a pre contract agreement, it would take the pressure off the whole situation. Fans and players could get right behind Martinez for the cup games and it would negate all the bitterness around. Roberto would get to leave on a good note and everyone is happy.

Currently I can't see us winning a game with the level of apathy amongst the players, frustration amongst the fans, and Martinez looking as though he's just thrown the towel in.
