Manchester United are 1 of the richest clubs in the world.

They are currently giving chances to 2 youth players, despite spending 350m on new players in the last few years.

Why do people "care" so much about youth? Sure, theres honestly nothing better than a Rooney, a Barkley, those 2 young lads living their dream yesterday, makes everything worthwhile, but the reality is the percentage of players "good" enough for top level football is quite small.

I think theres major benefits to playing or developing "our" youth players.

Theyre all quite obvious in such that they know the club, have the home grown local mentality and fhe fans of course will back them which encourages positivity. Also though every top side in the league has only ever performed well with home grown nucleus of local players.

We have a lot of england youth players all 17-19 years old. If we can get them into the squad even as mostly backup or rotation options this is a major strength in terms of the clubs mentality and culture.

The key is the quality of the players and optimistically Davies, Galloway, Connolly are 3 players who look good enough + dowell, ledspn, walsh may be good enough and others brought in such as Holgate, foulds and the chap we signed from northampton could be good enough along with the rest.

On paper it could be that we could see a huge number of these guys in the squad over the next 2 seasons

Thats more barca than madrid and if we achieved this then we create our clubs culture + have the local passionate players + use transfer windows to only sign the very best to compliment them.

Man Utd are now more real madrid and have lost their local players so now play u21s on occasion but theyre not top notch apart from the dutch right back....thwyre mostly imports.

Look at chelsea without terry and lampard or liverpool and arsenal without their local players.

Well when he was talking to Swansea, his words were "If I can bring my management team", im just assuming Bergkamp would take over, Overmars would stay, they all might come, hes leaving his "comfort zone", im pretty sure he wouldnt come over unprepared.

He was a top class footballer who played at the very highest level, that means nothing in terms of ability to manage, but it means he knows what it takes, hes "proved" his ability to manage, the risk would be can he make the "step up", nobody knows, but he has a good pedigree in my eyes.

Also being captain at the top level cant hurt.

I read about swansea also but think he was saying he would talk to clubs as long as there were big plans...think it was a general comment and swansea perhaps didnt approach him.

I think even the best managers can have a dip in form in particular seasons, for example Mourinho had a shocker this season and was sacked because Chelsea were one point off relegation zone and he seemed to have no idea how to sort it out.

Previous seasons Emery has had a good away record, last season they won 10 so it's not like it's always been a problem. Bit of a dip this year with lots of draws but still in semi final of Europa and seventh in league. Lets hope he can win the Europa again this year!

Im not so clued up on emery other than rating his keeper.

but whats he actually achieved in the league? Also he was a disaster in russia....could be juat a stable league manager decent in the cups?

De Boer as manager is as much of a risk as Michael Laudrup was for Swansea. Great to start with wasn't he? Lots of blues wishing he had come here..

Then what?... Oh yeah, he was [Poor language removed].

Great player. Not a great manager. They do not go hand in hand.

De Boer is a HUGE no from me.

Laudrup had won 1 Danish league 10 years ago, hes nothing like Laudrup, sorry hes not.

I changed from Mourinho to De Boer based on De Boer bringing his assistants with him (R.De Boer/Jaap Stam/Bergkamp) as they have played at the very top in all areas of the teams spine + Overmars as Director of football...add in a class GK coach and thats a "whose who" of recent footballing superstars which attracts players.

Also we have Stones,Barkley,Lukaku,Deulofeu + Robles,Mori,Besic,McCarthy who can all learn and develop under the management team. Additonally its a lower risk for us to have such a management team rather than just one single figure as manager.

On top of this, the Ajax team has alot of u21 players which bodes well for us with a fair amount of defenders and midfielders getting full national caps before hitting 21.

Galloway
Kenny
Connolly
Holgate
All defenders who could be brought through and developed by this group.

Walsh
Ledson
Davies
Dowell

All midfielders who could be developed.

Theres 8 players there who have a chance under some amazing former players they can look up to.

I think the ages of the management team are all 40s which breeds longevity and i look at the names and think Stonss,Lukaku and Barkley would be excited to work with them.

Would they be as excited under Pelligrini? For me not at all...Emery, not really...Mourinho they may well be excited to work for a winner but worried about how chelsea imploded and footballers talk...

As an individual manager im sure Cocu would be arguably better from holland but as a group and a management team this is very impressive.

You have to remember zat that for every promising under 21 maybe 1 or 2 in ten fulfills that potential. For every Rooney there's a Chadwick, anichebe, Vaughan and rodwell
