The more I think about it, the more I am erring towards wanting Mancini.

Prem experience (winner) and has handled some pretty big egos.

That said though, I am sure there are other suitable candidates and Favre looks good on paper.

I just know I'm going to be underwhelmed by whoever is appointed. We're not getting a proven winner like Mourinho, so the Summer will be a strange one where we just have to wait and see what our new gaffer will do for us.

I mean, if we got someone like Pellegrini, I seriously wouldn't know what to expect next term.

I'd love us to show some foresight and sign some hardened manager with some real footballing nouse - the likes of Ranieri and Billic have been superb for Leicestershire and Wham respectively.

I hope I'm at least whelmed, if not overwhelmed by the appointment, but as I say, I know it's going to underwhelming for all concerned.

Hard to compare the Spanish clubs with Ajax but in terms of years as a manager you'd hope De Boer would end up having a more trophy laden career in Europe.

I was also negative about De Boer but the tactics and systems he uses as well as his turning replacements for players sold into internationals is really impressive. They also hadnt won the league in years before he took over...they didnt achieve thst last season either and perhaps Cocu is a better manager BUT if De Boer brought his coaching staff with him it looks really impressive...

I wouldnt fancy a 60+ year old manager myself as i would like someone to come in and build something long term. But if we went for an older manager then for me is go for del bosque rather than pelligrini.

Has he made any decent signings at City and attracted top players to join there? Im not sure if he has but the bad ones do stick out.

Fernandinho and De Bruyne who i think are both good signings for them, Roberts the young lad from Fulham is a very good buy for the future as well, and for what they paid Delph i'd say was a decent purchase as well

Think also Jovetic would have been a good buy if he wasn't made from weetabix - 9 injuries in less than 3 years, 7 in his first two seasons and all of them for between 3 weeks and 2 months.

Ottamendi, Bony, Navas, Fernando and Mangala are strange ones - as can hardly remember reading or hearing anyone criticising any of those transfers until a few months after they bought them, as all three where exceptionally highly rated players at the time, Ottamendi for example was voted the spanish defender of the year in the league last season from memory, same with Negredo really - highly touted and a surprise he failed. But can tell yuo right now if we had signed any of those at the time we would have been bouncing around thinking we had signed some great players - in fact think we where linked with Ferndando weren't we and most felt gutted we didn't get him - msame with Negredo who we apparently bid on

and well Sterling was IMO nothing to do with Pelligrini - just seemed like a club decision to buy a touted english player to me that one did.

Think people just see the money spent by city and get alarmed but in reality a 20m player for them is like a 2-3m player for us, not a disatser if it doesn't work out and they buy that many that some stick.

Similarly i wont give him massive credit for Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema and Xabi alonso all being signed by him for Madrid either as well - malthough Alonso was supposedly one he isnisted upon

My thinking is judge a manager on how the operate at a level without interferance for a better judgement and in that he ahs done well

Proven winner??? Hardened manager with footballing nouse??? Yet you don't seem keen on Pellegrini.

I hate the thought of getting someone like Bilic or Koeman, I definitely think it must be someone tried and tested, a real proven winner who knows what it's like to win multiple trophies as a manager and big trophies at that.

It's Mourinho all day for me, followed by the more realistic option of Pellegrini and the more I think if it LVG is the next man I'd want although I think I'll be in the minirity with him.

This club now needs a proven big name of world football management who instantly gets respect and is highly decorated.

You're absolutely right Keiran, as of yet no-one has any idea what Moshiri intends to do. But when you suggest Howe or another up and coming manager. I have to put his question to you, Besides Howard Kendall, when was the last time we appointed a young up and coming manager that actually worked out for us?

The thing is mate we're at a crossroads and you may be right to suggest that we can't afford to sit at the table of the high rollers. But if we don't do it now, this train is going to pass. And we might see another generation of Evertonians growing up without any silverware. Personally I think that would be disaster.

Many of us are pinning are hopes on the new ownership, sure it may be delusional and misguided. Who knows, we could be seeing a new era, either way, we'll find out within weeks in my estimation. In between time considering the week we've just had, who'd you go for, say we had the money like? Would you still pick Eddie Howe or Sean Dyche?

That's because we have either 1; appointed the wrong manager - I still believe Martinez was the wrong choice and never fancied him when we got him. Or 2; Hung on to the right manager for longer than we should have out of some kind of misguided loyalty - ala Moyes.

Both Moyes and Martinez at their appointments were considered good young managers. Both have had their ups and downs with us but I wouldn't let Martinez most recent campaign deter us from seeking the best young managers. Howe would fall into that category, as would the likes of Slutsky at CSKA Moscow and Weinzierl who has done well at Augsburg.

I'm aware of the consequences if we don't get the appointment right however a well established manager doesn't always mean instant results. Like every one of the fans, i'm eager for us to make a bold statement under a new board - representing a new, ambitious Ebepton.

Personally, even if we had that sort of money to play with, I still wouldn't go for Mourinho or Pellegrini if i'm honest. In that position I would be excited about Emery or De Boer or even Koeman to a lesser extent.

My point is that I don't feel we will be throwing that level of money about and therefore won't be able to attract those names. Which is why, in my humble opinion, we'll be talking to those eager, young managers at "smaller" clubs (I hate that!) and those who are out of work ala Favre, Montella, Neville.

Again, just a hunch but I think Moshiri will prioritise a new stadium and sponsorship to secure the long term future of the club rather than sustained heavy investment into a playing squad which is in no danger of going down any time soon. I think he may look at our playing squad and think that if, as many believe, Lukaku is angling for a move then that may boost the coffers up to around £50-60m which would be more than any other Everton manager has had to build a squad and would be sufficient to replace Lukaku and add 2-3 more quality signings to a well settled team.

Evolution not Revolution and all that...

True. But it's Martinez who practically broke the team up. Theres no excuses left. I think Martinez is a wonderful person but he's toxic to our club now. Fans need to smoke him out.
Surely you mean it was Martinez that brought them to the club or at least brought them into the team.
I think it is likely that RM may be leaving , but he has left a young talented squad behind him.
If any of the young talents force a move we will be well recompensed.

Thats also true...but by the looks of it it didnt take them long to want to get rid of their manager...he has done wonderful buys no doubt but it has pretty much melted away that joy.

Especially with the news over the last 48 hours that a deal been signed by Jose with man u. All the papers are running with this now.
Not saying it will or won't happen, but this is about the third time the same story has done the rounds.

The current flood is all people piggybacking off the same portuguese report. A week ago he was off to PSG

I mean that he has lost the dresser. Rom wants out...Stones wants out....Mirallas and Baines hates him...you want more? Or do you get my point? Like I said this is hard cause Martinez is lovely man...but....it has to happend

A new manager would come in and have all those players at his disposal though...

Not necessarily. New man will probs take over after season is over (?) and even if he would take the job right away Rom and Stones are probs off anyways (others too)(but ofcourse theres possibility that if our new man is such a big hitter that players wanna stay ) Lets see

Yep I think they United are waiting, if he gets 4th and the FA Cup I can see him staying, not sure JUST the FA cup would be enough to "save" him, but who knows.
