Just spoke to another non Everton fan about who we could potentially get. In his view we have no chance of getting someone of the calibre of Pellegrini and should be looking at someone like Sean Dyche. His belief is that Dyche is about the best we could attract. He also added that he thought 11th would be a reasonable league finish for us.

I don't agree with him but it is an eye opener to see how other fans view us.

I'll add that the guy I was speaking to is a Liverpool fan but he has a fairly balanced view when it comes to football so I do respect his opinion.

Your friend is far more biased than you think.

Based on his "unbiased logic", why would they aim for Klopp when they were 10th? We are 11th, not 17th. Why would Leicester get Ranieri then? It is going to be difficult to attract the likes of Simeone, but reputation wise, we should be able to attract Pellegrini given him being a bit of a journeyman among UCL clubs if not better.

We were 5th 2 years ago, perennial top 8 with occassional Europa, a good young team that is severely underperforming and far friendlier support from the club and fans.

Someone like Simeone/Emery will be able to dictate his methods throughout the organization here like Wenger did for Arsenal, while Klopp has to constantly watch his back with the business side of things.

Guud Hiddink/Pellegrini with a young manager like Howe to work with him for a couple of seasons to learn the trade from managers who have been at the very top.

Maybe, just maybe Martinez will be allowed to stay if he is prepared to work with an older statesman as mentioned above .
I would not rule out such a move completely.

I like the Howe idea, def not Martinez, but don't see that happening unless we pay both large salaries. I'm more towards Bielsa/Hiddink/Pellegrini grooming one of our current players for coaching, like Barry.

.....it's 7.23pm and Jose is still 14-1 with Paddy Power.

20-1 now.

At that price I just chucked a small sum on. I'm fully expecting an official announcement in the next couple of hours confirming his new position

... at Watford or something equally bizarre.

Don't want to be nasty or harsh but please tell you mate he knows nothing about modern football

One could say we are all guessing but surely after the Derby and then the semi the axe should have been wielded. The longer this lingers could be indicative of RM having board support.

Mate, sometimes you book your holiday plans in advance. The fact that days go by and you haven't left yet doesn't change the reality of having bought your tickets and planned your trip.
