Rafael Benitez is a successful manager and would be good for us - experienced, won trophies and still has the passion and drive. Fear he won't be properly considered for irrational reasons

He managed Liverpool in the past and said that we're a 'small club'. Words spoken whilst managing a rival team - irrelevant to his ability to build a team at Everton
You get two for that post and put on the possible kopite list.

Decided I would rather have Pellegrini than Koeman.

Also rather give De Boer a go. Something about Koeman just not doing it for me, despite what a good job he has done at Saints.

I think we can stop panicking about being stuck with the likes of Martin O'Neill as it appears a number of high profile candidates are briefing the press about their interest in Everton. We could well be the biggest job on offer in the Prem this summer. Interesting that that's two of Esk's four publicly throwing hats in the ring and another, Koeman, stalling on a new contract.

But it is understood that Pellegrini is far from disillusioned with life in England and is very keen to stay.

He is aware of the speculation over Roberto Martinez's position at Everton and has told friends he would be very interested in taking over if the job became available.

Pellegrini sees Everton as a club with huge potential and believes he could have the same kind of success there that he enjoyed in Spain with Malaga and Villarreal.

Also, Pellegrini is settled in Cheshire with his wife Carola and would be keen to stay in the area.

Pellegrini has failed the past two seasons with city. So I fail to see how he would do any better with a club with a fraction of the resources.

If we are going with old City managers I'd rather have Mancini. Pellegrini doesn't look like he can build a defense without Kompany and he has under performed the past two seasons.

Although it doesn't seem like it is possible there is some logic to Mourinho coming on:

1. We do pay our managers fairly well and with Moshiri we can up it and not have to worry about FFP.
2. He has already sat out most of this season and I doubt he wants to miss the start of another.
3. We do have talent and the promise of a good size war chest.
4. We are the best available club.
5. This is just speculation, but I really think he wants to stay in the EPL. Unless you are at Barca, PSG, Bayern or Real no other league can offer the attention and spectacle as the PL. Plus with I am sure he'd love to battle Guardiola, Klopp, and try to beat/rub into Man U/Chelsea that they have the wrong man.

A lot of this comes down to the Man U job. If LVG stays on does Mourinho want to wait and circle the position like a vulture or move onto another club? What other top clubs are available that can afford what he will want in wages?
