Finance is not a problem in getting Mourinho. We've paid 13m for Naisse without a billionaire owner ffs.

What's wrong with paying 15m per year for Mourinho when we have a billionaire owner now?

We have to make it Mourinho, the statement that would make to the league and potential players, we would stop being looked at as little Everton. We would be on the back pages across the world because it would be such a shock in the football world.

That alone would help with our commercial income as we would be catapulted up there in the media world which would be attractive to new sponsors and partners. It is not going to be easy getting him and we can't put all our eggs in one basket but we already have a game changing owner, we now need game Changing statements of intent, Mourinho would be one of those statements.
If there's one thing Jose loves more than football it's popcorning. Signing for Everton he'd have bails of the stuff it'd be meltdown everywhere and he'd love it. Some people still don't believe in the "special one" and being a success at Everton would cement it once and for all. Moshy just needs to sell it him and lads like that, once they have their minds made up, don't take no for an answer.

Frank de Boer (left) has been contacted over the Everton job, while Mark Hughes is overlooked
De Boer, 45, is favourite to succeed Roberto Martinez as the Toffees' new manager this summer.

Everton sacked Spaniard Martinez this week and are seeking a new boss ahead of next season.

And the Daily Mail claim Dutchman De Boer has been contacted.

According to the report, Everton officials have spoken to De Boer's representative Guido Albers about a deal.

Talks took place on Friday and more are expected in the coming days.

The news comes with Everton reeling byRonald Koeman's insistence that he is not interested in leaving Southampton for Merseyside.

"I am manager of Southampton," Koeman said. "Everyone knows I have one year more on my contract.

"We will sit together, analyse this season and talk about the future. That's what the news is today."

And Stoke boss Mark Hughes confirmed he will be staying on at the Britannia next season, although he is disappointed to have been behind foreign candidates for the Toffees job.

"I'm one of those experienced Premier League managers, so you shouldn't be surprised by the speculation," he said.

"I'm never first choice because there's invariably a list of foreign managers, but I have to say I'm extremely happy here and have still got things to do here."

Meanwhile, Everton legend Neville Southall has called on the club to appoint out-of-work Jose Mourinho.

Express Sport understands Mourinho, 53, is the No 1 candidate to replace Louis van Gaal at Manchester United, should the Dutchman leave this summer.

But ex-goalkeeper Southall believes he Mourinho should set his sights on Goodison.

“Adios Roberto Martinez it's time for Everton to show some balls and get Jose Mourinho,"he wrote on twitter.

“The board have to sit down and tell a new manager that the deal is you’ve got a three-year deal and within that time we expect improvement in the Premier League table and a trophy.

"If you’ve not done that within that time frame, you’re off. Everyone talks about a five-year plan but you’re three-quarters of the way through it after three years and there’s no visible progress.

“Ideally what we need is a mix of David Moyes’ defensive solidity and Roberto Martinez’s attacking flair.

"A Jose Mourinho-team would fit the bill perfectly. Mourinho is a proven winner and even if he was just in for three years he’d have won you a trophy by then.

"He has the arrogance and the swagger to lift Everton out of the mire. His teams are built from the back but score plenty of goals and don’t give points away easily.”

Next Everton Manager Odds:
De Boer 8/11

Koeman 15/8

Hughes 7/1

Moyes 8/1

Pellegrini 8/1

Benitez 14/1

Mourinho 22/1

Maybe because he's still being paid by Chelsea until then?

Perhaps, though Moyes was being paid by us up to the same date in 2013 whilst being confirmed as United manager. I don't think Mourinho joining us is completely out of the question, but the dots don't join up for it in my opinion.

I'm sure we are in preliminary talks with several candidates and will probably come to an agreement with one, well before Mourinho announces who has won the race for who can stroke his ego the most.

Wouldn't doubt his ability, but disagree with some who say we should wait as long as it takes to get him. If the club are seriously interested, then they make the best possible offer they can, accomodate the people he wants to bring in, and place them within a structure he would be happy with. He either takes that, or leaves it. Hesitancy on his part to me means his heart would not be in it.

"If you’ve not done that within that time frame, you’re off. Everyone talks about a five-year plan but you’re three-quarters of the way through it after three years and there’s no visible progress.

Great arithmetic there, Nev ;)
