He finished 5th on the back of the squad Moyes left him? & the 'disgrace' of a squad Moyes left included Coleman, Jagielka, Oviedo, Mirallas, Stones & Barkley. 6 of the starting 11 on Saturday.

He's recruited well Martinez but every season we've had under him since the first season - which was built on Moyes' foundations - we look less & less like the top 6 side that Moyes left him with.

Barkley and Stones have been developed by martinez as have several others in the first eleven they arent the finished article. Highlighting the other 4 just shows that Martinez still has a rebuilding job on his hands, Mirallas is a disaster waiting to happen and jags is 34 at season start.

This is a total squad overhaul which cant be done in a couple of seasons. Moyes had over a decade and finished 17th as well as bottom half before he managed to get us into the top 6 consistently...whats the difference other than us now having far better players developing for a higher ceiling?

No, moyes left a team that "he" could get top 6 playing percentage football.

Howard
baines distin jagielka coleman
Mirallas gibson osman pienaar
Fellaini
jelavic

The bench is pretty shocking as well. That side would likely be competing with villa if it tried to play anything other than % football.

Clearly the entire squad needed a total overhaul and yet this is what Martinez has been doing...doesnt happen overnight and hes only signed Galloway and Mori for the defence so far...

Sounds like you think we should be top 6 ahead of:

Man city
spurs
arsenal
liverpool
chelsea
West ham (same as martinez 1st season)
man utd
leicester (one off season)

That puts us 9th which we will be if we win our game in hand...stoke have also spent more money so 10th?

Other than prize money whats the difference between 12th 9th and 8th...nothing.
Also I didn't pick up on this point. Maybe it means nothing to you but the higher up we finish the more games we have won and funnily enough as an Everton supporter I like seeing us win games. So it yes it means something to me.

Do you actually believe this utter nonsense???

Was Martinez playing % football when he finished 5th with that disgraceful squad?

And to be honest any weaknesses that squad had were down to the lack of funds that Moyes was given to build it.

Lack of funds goes for martinez as well. Hes spent less than the clubs people think we should be ahead of yet hes bought players to develop which is clever but takes time.

You probably think we shoild finish top 6 which is ridiculous.

This difference is that the squad Moyes took over was awful, and it was certainly a bottom half squad. The squad Martinez took over was top 6 and he's had loads of money to spend on it so far. There's no doubt our squad has improved since he's taken over and yet we still seem to be struggling with it. That is down to poor coaching and management.

I do think we should be in the top 6. Why is that ridiculous?

Left a squad with Baines, Jagielka, Oviedo, Mirallas, Barkley, Pienaar, Coleman, Stones and Fellaini. There's a lot of talent their, certainly a lot better than Moyes. Your claim of it being an absolute disgrace of a squad is ridiculous.

Also it makes me laugh how you say that Leicester have had a one off season. Martinez finished 5th, then 11th and now is in 12. Yet there is no chance of him finishing 5th being a one off season?

Baines jagielka pienaar in their 30s
barkley and stones developed by martinez
Mirallas who wham bid £6mil for

You dont seem to understand that squads need to be rebuilt, players developed and money spent.

your other post stating about moyes doing a bad job at unitied yet lvg signed an entire new team as the squad needed rebuilding...likewise jose wasnt given funds to rebuild as roman said he had just won the league.

You cant just rebuild a squad with less money and younger players than your rivals in less time.

"Messed up another season"

Weve finished 5th in his first season during which he assessed the squad.

We then finished 11th during which he began building the squad from the absolute disgrace of a squad moyes left.

This season weve had a very fine line between success and failure and with a game in hand could sit 9th which is pretty much a fair position for the squad.

Next season the aim would be top 6 after strengthening in the summer but i really dont know what people expect this and last season while hes building the squad with little money compared to others around us.
An absolute disgrace of a squad!!! It's a team that regularly finished in the top 7 under moyes. Martinez was quite rightly lauded for them getting 'the majority of this disgraceful squad' to 5th. Now Martinez has had 2 seasons, record expenditure by an Everton manger to turn us into 11th and 12th place currently with 'his team'.

Barkley was given has debut by Moyes, Stones was bought by Moyes 6 months before he left & has potentially been ruined this season by Martinez, he looks a shadow of the player he was last season so if that's Martinez developing players, the lads probably better off somewhere else. I highlighted the players mentioned as a point that Moyes left a good squad behind, ptoven by the fact the Martinez was able to finish 5th with near enough the same squad the season after.

Moyes finished 17th 2 seasons after taking over an ageing Everton squad that had been battling relegation for the majority of the previous 10 seasons. He was then given time as he built a squad that began to consistently challenge for European places despite having a very limited transfer budget.

Martinez has took that squad, which had one of the best defences in the league (3 of 4 of which are still in our back 4) & has turned it into a mid-table side, leaking goals for fun, that can't hold a lead and has lost more games at Goodison than Mike Walkers side did.

Wow. Just wow.

So with an entire squad overhaul, new style of play and hardly any cash to spend on players + youth being developed you think we should bs top 6 ?

Which of these teams would be below us:

spurs
arsenal
chelsea
utd
leicester
city
wham
liverpool

Theres on paper the top 8. Then add in stoke whove spent more money backed by the billionaire coates fanily and you have a top 9.

The irony is that if Martinez had the money these clubs had to spend he would have us top 6.

Well he's had 3 years to rebuild and he's spent money. Yet we're 12th.

New style of play?? Come off it!

Manu, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been awful. West Ham aren't better than us either. We should be ahead of all of them and we would be if we hadn't leaked so many cheap goals. Our squad is also better than Leicesters and probably on a par with Spurs.
