In the bbc documentary on Ferguson, he blatantly says he wanted Mourinho to succeed him but knew Jose wanted to return to Chelsea, so I think the story of fergie not wanting him is nonsense. I hope to Jesus we get him tho!
I think that was Ferguson just back tracking on his decision to give the job to Moyes over Mourinho.

Mourinho would never have went back to Chelsea if the United job was an option to him in 2013. Why go back to the man who sacked you after winning 2 titles and multiple cups? Because he had no options

It looks increasingley likely Van Gaal at Utd for next season, would Mournino be willing to sit out for a year? Personally don't think so.

Even if we got him for just one season and then he jibbed us next summer when United decided they do want him, I would still take that. Having Mourinho as our official manager for just one week would be a massive statement of ambition. He can come here for a season, get us high up in the league (and hopefully win a cup to boot) in order to prove to his critics he's still got it and then get the United job he so craves. It would be a keep-busy job for him but a huge step in the right direction for us.

Come on Jose you silver fox, come here to Everton.

This is the key to everything.

Genuinely think Woodward will keep him for another year, bizarrely

I've just spent the last few hours watching Mourhino interviews. What comes across more than anything is that he is his own man. It's either his way or the byway; full control. He has to be the main man and for this reason I don't see him fitting in at Man.Utd.

Mourhino at Man.Utd is far from being a marriage made in heaven. The media, the sponsors, the financial guys want Mourhino at Man.Utd more so for the entertainment factor than for football reasons. It will generate a great deal of interest.

Jose is a football man. Away from football he is a family man who prefers to leave his work at the the front door.

The question is: Would Jose want a project that is guaranteed to be a circus show? I'm not so sure.

After the debacle at Chelsea I think he has something to prove to himself and that alone will determine I believe where his next job will be.

They're actually doing the right thing if they keep him on.

He's bringing one or two young players through, and I can see why they're not keen on sacking. There's no club that has ever benefited long-term from a quickfire hire and fire policy...

Look at the absolute kip of Chelsea (as an example) ffs.

While I get where you're coming from, Chelsea wasn't a great example, unless you mean the fanbase, media perception and all around general bellness - then yes, fantastic example and everyone should avoid that where possible.

In terms of success the last 6 years: 2 Premier Leagues, 2 FA Cups, 1 League Cup, 1 Champions League and 1 Europa League. I'd take that myself.

I'd take it myself. That record is history though.

They achieved most of that success on the back of 4 players: Cech, Terry, Lampard and Drogba.

I personally can't see them having sustained success in the future, and I fully expect their new Italian manager to be out on his ear before xmas, again.

Probably a good shout that
