read my post above dutch mate, its a myth
But Kalas is quite a good example - Jose does give youngsters debuts, sometimes even in important games, but often then they drop from the face of the earth.

He can be very good at slightly older players, ones in their early 20s who have had a lot of gametime elsewhere (Hazard being good example).

But can't see much recent evidence that he either has the interest nor ability to develop the likes of Tom Davies or JonJoe Kenny - he chose to have Eto'o and Ba as second and third place strikers rather than give that gametime to Rom to develop for instance.

I like Jose don't get me wrong.
But I think the emphasis on youth was as much a message today than people may realise.
Koeman will be fully aware our squad is good and littered with exceptional young players coming through.
I understand why a lot of people want Mourinho but he's not for me we've got the best group of youngsters that we've had for decades. We need someone who can blend them in with some top quality signings, Emery, Favre, De Boer, Koeman in that order for me. I think after today's results the chances of Mourinho going to United have increased.

You see I need to take you up on this.

What have those three proven to you to be ahead of Koeman?

I like DeBoer over Koehman, because of potential and hunger. DB will come in wanting to prove himself and he's done a great job with youth in Ajax. I'm not against Koehman, but somehow he feels the safer pair of hands, and not one that will push us to greater heights.

Not many players have got game time from their academy, regardless of who is in charge, they all just get loaned out for experience, maybe that's all down to their club policy or something

Mourinho has massive ego and rightly so he is possibly the best manager in the world.

The fact that United aren't going all out to get him will hurt and he might just say GTF if and when they do.

He knows what we are about money is not a problem anymore and he would be loved here.

Its on.

Fair points, but he has been managing in jobs that demand constant and usually immediate results and success LL, not helped by the fact he actually likes operating with a relatively small core of players and when your dealing with massive bloated squads like chelsea and madrid have then yeah the younger players do suffer, thing is though - for example madrid, they just dont tend to produce for the past 15 years since raul etc many academy players good enough to break into the team - and they buy back the ones who do develop later in their 20s to be deemed good enough

Hell Barca deemed riquelme and madrid deemed eto'o not good enough for them intially and serially farmed them out on loan before selling them

IF we are seriously looking to build a team that can constantly challenge for the league etc, then honestly we won't be promoting players up from the academy at 17/18/19 anymore anyway (not that we have really ever done that though), we will start to use longer term loans to develop players unless we really strike it golden with players coming through who are just too good not to break through - ala rooney etc, thats just how modern footy is at the top nowadays - teams buy in the already developed youngsters and loan out their own to get them developed
