£100M will get you 2-3 world class players, provided you have a manager who can get them...that's a big addition if we kept what we know we should keep and acquire the manager we know can get what's needed. True Chelsea have never had much of a reputation for developing youth, but when Mourinho was rehired there the last time apparently Abromovic was very keen on him bringing through some of their kids as he has spent a lot of money on it and it now is very successful at junior level.

Instead Mourinho banned the academy players from sharing recovery sessions in the club pool with the senior player meaning they had to go to a local public baths and stopped their coaches from wearing initials on their kits - hardly the actions of someone interested in integrating the academy into the senior team.

Didn't know about that, he was questioning the attitude of the loftus-cheek, if they were playing the billy big bollocks maybe/hopefully he was making sure they knew they weren't made and had to push on

I know people seem to think that Jose is going to ruin our good academy setup etc, but think of this scenario:

1. Jose joins
2. Our stars sign new deals (Rom, Ross, Stones)
3. The deadwood leave with the end of their contracts
4. Jose is given £100m to spend on the level of player he's always worked with i.e. The best in Europe
5. Moshiri gives the Kiev owner the middle finger and tells him to put Yarmolenko up his arse because we bought James Rodriguez instead
6. Niasse becomes amazing and we win the league

Dont see what the obsesstion with the youth is, we won the youth cup bk in the day and they all turned out amazingly and won us the league..... O wait they didnt and most of them never made the 1st team.
Jose is far far more important then a few kids who will probably be in league 1 or 2 in the next 2 years with maybe 1 of them being a 1st team

I think he's been briefed behind closed doors that we will be going for Mourinho. He's not naming names, he's not pushing a particular person but he is hinting that we are after something a level above what everyone on the outside thinks we can get.

For once I don't think it's either us clinging onto some bullshit line that we will go for him but don't believe we can get him, like a token "at least we tried". I think we may be seriously in for him to the point where Moshiri would back himself to land the man he wants. If we don't get him I don't think it will be because we haven't pushed hard, just that Mourinho has his heart on another club.

I'm hopeful things are going to move very quickly in the coming days/week

Some of us are just interested in the youth setup mate, not just because they seem a good crop at the moment but from a general principle of enjoying seeing young players develop - particularly local lads.

You clearly don't share that interest, which is obviously fine as we all watch the game for different reasons, but personally means a lot to me that we try to use our academy and think it makes good business sense as well.

Aye, would be a great question, haven't got a clue either!

Keeping it to the Premier League era would certainly cut the numbers down as football in general has changed so much in recent years.
