Dont see what the obsesstion with the youth is, we won the youth cup bk in the day and they all turned out amazingly and won us the league..... O wait they didnt and most of them never made the 1st team.
Jose is far far more important then a few kids who will probably be in league 1 or 2 in the next 2 years with maybe 1 of them being a 1st team
Why do you hate our youth players mate?

Some of us are just interested in the youth setup mate, not just because they seem a good crop at the moment but from a general principle of enjoying seeing young players develop - particularly local lads.

You clearly don't share that interest, which is obviously fine as we all watch the game for different reasons, but personally means a lot to me that we try to use our academy and think it makes good business sense as well.
I agree with you on a healthy youth/academy program, makes a lot of sense & fosters the local club affiliation.

I'm wondering how Chelski's youth program compares. Genuine question as I do not know. If ours is much better than theirs, could it be that a bloke like Mourhino didn't rate the one down there so didn't bother, whereas ours could be one worth tapping?

I don't get this fascination with youth line.

I couldn't care less if Mourinho was bought in and played a team full of pensioners as long as we were winning trophies.

From a results perspective they have been very succesful in result years, regularly been high in both the youth league and cup competitions.

They have also had several players who have done well with the England junior teams - for instance when Ledson and Kenny were part of the team U17 team that won the Euros Chelsea plauers Izzy Brown and Dominic Solanke were important parts of that success.

Indeed Mourinho himself said this in July 2014

"Jose Mourinho has promised to deliver a bright future for the England national team and insists if three of his young talents at Chelsea don't make it, he will be to blame. The Blues boss has earmarked young talents Lewis Baker, Izzy Brown and Dominic Solanke as future England internationals, and is showing his faith in all three on tour across Europe with the first team. And with all three set to work with the senior players during the coming season, Mourinho is putting his neck on the line by promising FA Chairman Greg Dyke that all three will be full internationals in years to come."

Of the three, only Izzy Brown has a senior appearance for Chelsea - 11 mins in a dead rubber against West Brom at the end of last season.

Didn't know about that, he was questioning the attitude of the loftus-cheek, if they were playing the billy big bollocks maybe/hopefully he was making sure they knew they weren't made and had to push on

actually, the more I think about it, the more sensible an idea it sounds.

Make the young players slum it a little....it is character firming.

Danny Murphy just said Koeman would want a bigger club than Everton. I think you will surprised when he rocks up at GP, Danny boy we are plenty big enough.

And he said it through clenched teeth.

Talked about the first two in the betting, FDB and Koeman.....but couldn't bring himself to mention the third favourite named on the caption.......Jose.

FTR Bobby did more in his first season here than Ronald has done in any of his two seasons at Saints.

Nowt thus far suggests Koeman is ready to step up to the level Murphy seems to think he should be aspiring to.

The Kopite beaut.

Ok, interesting. The youth were there & potentially able to step up, but didn't get the chances. That does bear consideration....(like I'm making the decision lol)

There is a fine line between trying to keep a youngsters feet on the ground and completely destroying their confidence.

Imo Mourinho erred way too far in the latter in his public takedown of Loftus Cheek - all of which would have been better done behind the scenes if it needed to be done at all.

Whoever the next manager is, I would hazard we'll never see such an unfit squad as we've witnessed these past couple of seasons.

Further, but related, there's one or two who are carrying too much 'extra padding'.

Wigatonisation MUST be reversed....and I'm 100% confident it will.

He got them an extra 0.2points per game.

Of he'd been in charge for 28 games (start of November to end of May) of the season they would have finished a whole 2pts clear of relegation (with a squad significantly better than those around him)

Clear mark of a manager at the top of his game.

He would have had a better average if he started in november and it would be more than 0.2 per game.

With better squads he was won things (with RS Champions League, with Chelsea the Europa League). With our current squad he would get us into that top 6 and challenge for the top 4.

His record of trophies wins speaks for itself
