I agree there is a balance to be struck between giving youngsters gametime and room to make mistakes with keeping up the overall quality of the squad.

Just feel that Jose has shown so little interest in some very good young players in recent times ( eg De Bruyne) that the balance would result in almost none of our promising crop getting a look in. Like you, I want to see Kenny be Coleman's backup next season and think there would be no chance if Jose was our manager.

Have a similar reservation about Pellegrini and youth players tbh and Koeman's record hasn't been great either despite S'ton having a good academy.

Look, can we just stop this, can we just let our soon to be manager,Jose, settle in and win a couple of titles...........

Mad this place, we have a thread on here saying it is embarrassing to be thinking we will get Mourinho, and then we have loads of posts saying they don't want Mourinho because he hasn't got a track record with kids and naming clearly inferior managers that they would rather have.

Timing is going to be a problem
If there is a chance that Mourinho would come to Everton how long can we wait for him.
Southampton are talking to Koeman this week, Pellegrini also will not want to wait around or De Boer either.

The risk is that many of the managers that are our back up options will have their futures agreed away from Everton while we are trying to convince Jose.
He mentioned being in management by July but we can't wait that long.

Maybe he means he will be in pre season rather than putting pen to paper in July.

We can wait till the season ends tho surely?

Christ, heads falling off already.

good to see you posting LL ;)

who would your choice be for manager out of those mentioned that we may be interested in?
Thanks mac x

I honestly don't know!

Someone genuinely keen on bringing through our youngsters is one of my priorities and as mentioned the list is pretty thin in that respect, De Boer is the only one that seems to fit the bill and don't know much else about him tbh.

Who is your favoured candidate?

I know people seem to think that Jose is going to ruin our good academy setup etc, but think of this scenario:

  1. Jose joins
  2. Our stars sign new deals (Rom, Ross, Stones)
  3. The deadwood leave with the end of their contracts
  4. Jose is given £100m to spend on the level of player he's always worked with i.e. The best in Europe
  5. Moshiri gives the Kiev owner the middle finger and tells him to put Yarmolenko up his arse because we bought James Rodriguez instead
  6. Niasse becomes amazing and we win the league
Dream big

I've mentioned previously that I wouldn't touch Mourinho with a crappy stick LL, but I honestly think if he came to us we would be the perfect fit where he would use our youth and blend it with what we have and add it with new signings.

I think the last few jobs he's been at success is a priority so he has to go out and buy the best to be the best. With us our aims wouldn't be demanded so instantly so I think he could work with what we have a little more.

His reputation has took a hit or two since a year ago hence why he hasn't got a job still. I honestly think LL that we would be a great fit for each other and I think we have a fair few quality youngsters who he would absolutely love to take over.

Mourinho first choice for me, then Pellegrini and Koeman and after that I ain't got a clue lol

I'm still in the "wouldn't touch with a crappy stick" position with Mourinho but it sure will be an interesting summer! Make the usual transfer thread look tame by comparison ;)

Emery can't speak English. I fail to see how somebody can manage or coach any English football club if you cannot speak a little English even to begin with. Might as well just appoint a lovely woman who the lads try hard to impress for a few years! The former Chile manager with so much success, who 100% was under consideration for the Chelsea job, lost out to Conte due to this very reason.
Probably said all ready but the poch didn't speak a word, that turned out ok

Pochettino didn't give interviews in English because he wasn't comfortable, but he spoke it, or he would not have got the job. I have yet to see or hear one word of English out of Emery's mouth

Think he'll be out in time to win the league?!
