I'm a Yank too, so I know exactly what you're thinking. That said, I'm 99% sure that even in our professional sports, when a manager is sacked mid-season, the club has the next guy lined up already. Though often it just becomes a guy from the coaching staff (like Ole following Jose at ManU last year).
That’s a good point. I think in European football there is much more acceptable collusion. Obviously Everton pissed Watford off with the Silva recruitment, but otherwise it seems widely accepted for clubs to talk to other clubs’ managers. That never happens in US sports - especially mid season.

DEFINITELY not, and if i'm not mistaken, they must ask permission or it's a violation and they're fined.
