The point is to attract the best manager we possibly can get and hope that he kicks us on so that down the line better managers will actually want to manage us

That doesn't suit the "I want it NOW" people though, which is why they winge like mewling quims

It's hardly wasting a lot a time, it's the same as any targeted recruiting process. Once you get your longlist you make contact with all of them stating your interest and asking if they're into it. You do them all in parallel.

Those who say 'yes', talk to in more detail. Those who say 'no', move on.

Why would you consider it an insult? And who cares? They won't be working for us anyway in that case.
